Think it will be a positive actually, as the SNP have failed in a number of areas for years, and don’t seem to have progressed clear plans for currency etc. Competition could be a good thing, although I’d bet the Alba party will fail.

I never did like sequels much, especially ones where the original seemed good at the time but, in hindsight, you realise it was actually quite inappropriate and now seems really dated, to the point it would never be made now.

The real difference I see that will appeal to independence voters is The Alba Party's sole aim is to achieve independence for Scotland and that's it.

Unfortunately I can't help but see this as the last desperate throes of Salmond for his career.

Saw this posted on the Herald forum. No idea if if it is true or if the assumption is close to being correct but the prospect of ALBA being the official opposition...

Using the De Hondt predictor and the numbers from the last Survation poll from a couple of days ago and assuming half the SNP Constituency vote goes to ALBA on the Regional List, the next Scottish Parliament will look like this:

SNP 67 Overall Majority of 5
ALBA 24 seats
Tories 17 seats
Labour 16 seats
LibDem 4 seats
Green 1 seat.

An Independence SuperMajority forthcoming.
