If Scotland breaks away, then so might Wales. And England and Westminster might then go from ruling in the UK, and a major player in the EU, to becoming irrelevant in Europe, and a big player in possibly a much smaller UK.
That's not to say England couldn't re-establish themselves globally. But they might finally find out what it's like to be treated like an irrelevance.
They could learn what it is like to not be able to push partners around and have control of the board.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Haha - what exactly do Scotland and Wales from a financial perspective, bring to the table?
Neither country would've been able to have sustained 'furlough' for this long.
Have you read up on the criteria for joining the EU?
Have you read up on why her keeping sterling as the currency won't and can't work?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Why wont keeping sterling work?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It’s time limited mate. There eventually has to be a plan for Scotland to have its own currency or maybe join the euro.
If sterling is used in Scotland which is then viewed by financial institutions the world over as more of a risk and investment retracts then it will in turn devalue sterling overall. The Bank of England won’t tolerate that and will demand a break. You can’t just “latch” on to a separate country’s currency.
In so saying I’d imagine that there would be a 2-3 year period to adapt any required change.
It’s one of a number of fundamental questions that the SNP must answer.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Succinctly summarised.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
And completely fabricated.
What is the 'Bank of England' exactly?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It’s the central bank of the U.K. and dictates rates of exchange, mortgage and loan rates along with pretty much everything financed through the U.K.
If Scotland leaves the U.K. it automatically leaves this institution.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Indeed. It's an inefficient nationalised industry like most of the others.
It is the Central Bank of the United Kingdom. The fact that it is even called the Bank Of England tells you something about the inequity on the UK.

I’ve given the reasons why the central bank of the U.K. would not support banks or financial institutions in Scotland. Why would they support an entirely independent country who were responsible for devaluing the currency and every other financial measure for 90% of what was the U.K.?
And the essence is of Scotland leaves the U.K. it automatically leaves all U.K. institutions. It can’t just pick and choose to stay in one or two that suits it and sod the majority of the ownership.
Again it’s a fundamental question that is never even considered and certainly not answered and I’m sorry but trying to suggest that Scotland will just do what it wants regardless if it’s independent neighbours is merely following the same mantra of burying heads in the sand.

You are blind if you cannot see it is not a Union in any shape or form it is one part of a so called union calling all the shots how can anyone defend that? Honestly how can hey say its equal and why would you accept being in that situation and back it. Sycophants to London.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Go for it then.
Sort out your currency, membership of the EU.
Square away your debt.
But - the big questions are constantly not being asked of Sturgeon - what is the big plan - why is there never a document produced which outlines Scotland's way ahead?

They do not care and never will.

Stop moving the goalposts.
You just slated him for not visiting Scotland during the campaign (pandemic on).
But there were people like you slating him for visiting during the pandemic.
Where do you want these goalposts moved to, exactly?

Bollox, he was silent throughout not a peep, we are an irrelevance to him.

Stop moving the goalposts.
You just slated him for not visiting Scotland during the campaign (pandemic on).
But there were people like you slating him for visiting during the pandemic.
Where do you want these goalposts moved to, exactly?

73 seats up for grabs Tories win 5, yet we are under their rule, that is laughable.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Has the UK squared away its debt.?
If Scotland has a share of the debt, it also gets a share of the assets. That would include the currency.

Eh? The currency is not an asset. It’s an expression of monetary function. It can’t be just divided up.
