Ibrahima Konate

He's semi-permanently injured. If United signed him, with our injury record, I doubt we'd ever see him on the pitch. Phil Jones has already sewn up the injured centre half spot and made it his own.

Aside from that, the only thing I know about this guy is he's very quick. Which is no surprise, as a big part of Klopp's tactical arsenal is having players who can run extremely quickly

posted on 28/5/21

Anyone know if he is any good and if United should be looking to also move for him?

I don't

Good player who has VVD characteristics but the injuries is still a concern. Looks like we have done a lot of due diligence on him and believe he is over them.

He's not semi-permanently injured. He has had a few injuries so far early in his career, but given his age I'm sure the medical team will be confident they can get his best years out of him and potentially help to rectify any issues he has with aspects such as strength and conditioning.

Could be slightly rocky for the first couple of months but I expect after a third or half of the season has gone, he will flourish like most Klopp signings do.

In the last year and a half, he's spent 370 days injured. That's not great

He looks impressive from what I’ve seen. But I’m not sure Jones, Tuanzebe and Bailly need anymore company.

That would be like saying Van Djik is injury prone because he's spent most of this season injured.

How many starts have all of those players got between them? The only player who has even started a sizeable amount of games was Karius and he was swiftly moved on.

Alisson, Van Djik, Robertson, Fabinho, Wijnaldum, Mane, Salah have all tore the Premier League up however and then there is Thiago to add to that as well.

Except it's several different injuries with Konate and he's only actually 21 years old, so there isn't a huge sample size there. Anyway, with the collection of injury prone centre halves at United, it's not a move they should be considering.

As you say, VVD isn't actually injury prone and you maybe have a bit more leeway in that situation than United do. Konate may very well not be hit by injuries, but it's not something I'd want United to risk. Hardly matters anyway, as he's going to Liverpool regardless

I’ve been vocal on here about how highly I rate him. The injuries are a concern but I feel he is exactly the type of centre back that United need and I think he will be a great signing for Liverpool. I think in time, if he can stay fit, he will be seen as a great piece of business.

Liverpool’s bigger money signings have been pretty spot on. Only the Ox and Keita that have been flops.

The only signings that aren't a success above are Karius and Davies.

The rest were signed to be squad/utility players and they have/had filled that role. So tbf, yes, I would say they have been successful for what they were brought to the club to do.

So going back to my original point, they were success Klopp signings.

I said in my original post as well though that I'm sure the medical team at Liverpool have done plenty of research and developed methods that can help to rectify these injuries, or at least possibly make them less of an issue.

With him only being young as well, he has time on his side which is probably why he has been signed. If he was 28+, I'd be a bit more worried.
