Kane staying at Spurs means Ronaldo to City

City haven’t sold £500m worth of shirts in their history.

Ironically City could make more than United out of Ronaldo merchandise.

How many shirts does even the best and most marketable players sell. Loads of kids buy Liverpool shirts with Salah on but how many of those buy a shirt with another players name if Salah isn't there? I know players like Messi and Ronaldo will shift shirts to consumers who aren't really fans of that club but how many really? Apparently Juve sold half a million Ronaldo shirts in the season they bought him - that would be significantly less than £10million even at the incredible rate Liverpool have in their deal.

Plus I'm sure people forget that a £50 shirt doesn't make the club nor the producer £50. There's taxes and the retailers cut etc. It's about £3-7 per shirt going to the club. United in 2016 sold 3 million shirts TOTAL.

If Pep didn’t try that hard to get Messi why would he go for Ronaldo?

Does anyone actually think Ronaldo would suit how Pep plays.

Genuinely interested to see how many are looking at this from an actual football manager perspective instead of playing it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
At this level, Pep won't really have a say, this is purely business.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

You have no clue have you? Everything City have put in place over the last decade goes against them going for a Ronaldo. Wage structure being one of them.

Several hundred each if they want, I only have 4 myself.

Doubt he’d make them that much money, he wouldn’t be around long enough for them to really benefit.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

And they don’t have a big enough fan base. That isn’t meant as a knock at City either. It just is what it is.

Maybe our fanbase would shrink if we signed Ronaldo.

Market research suggests that Man City and Ronaldo merchandise would see a sales increase of £100m in Abu Dabi if he were to join City.

They might bring back 2 for 1's. If the seat's gong to be empty anyway might as well fill it with the next generation.

20million will be sold to the UAE to people with made up names and addresses.

Selling duvets to people living in the desert and Uefa will probably say it's legitimate income. ๐Ÿ˜‚

Only a Bertie Magoo could turn a piece about giving school kids free tickets into bad PR.

You should understand it more than most Boris given that you became a Charity club in 2008. Couldn't do it. Y yourself so needed to go cap in hand.

Anyone hear 'Kevin' on Talksport drive this afternoon? Massive blue (aren't they all), been going home and away for 20 years, won't set foot in the ground if they sign Ronaldo. Used to clap the opposition if they scored against Schmeichel and didn't cheer if Cole scored.

I know he was probably lying, but he was ace.

Football needs more Kevins.

I am a die hard Man U fan and can't understand why people support a player rather than a club. If we can bring Ronaldo to the Etihad then we could have a serious chance of winning our first CL title.

posted on 25/8/21

I’m actually not sure he’d even be a great signing for them these days.

Not sure he’s a Pep player either.
