Without personal pride you are nothing. Be proud of your heritage and beliefs. If you do not have an opinion that you are man/woman enough to voice then curl up in a little ball and expire.
I am not a Yorkshireman. I also do not need to be told to grow up as I have probably done more in my life than you could ever do without wetting your pants.

Where you play cricket is not an indicator or measure of personal pride or heritage or beliefs. Which century are you living in? You can have personal pride, heritage and beliefs while playing cricket anywhere in the world. Amazing that some people still think like this in this day and age.

I have been lucky enough to to have visited many countries and lived in a few of them. I accepted their codes of conduct. I consider myself to be patriotic but not racist. Hector, try travelling a bit before you comment on other people.

This makes no sense to your comment mate.
"Racism seems to be a bike that too many people want to ride."

Maybe I have not expressed my thoughts correctly. I am totally anti-racism. Some people are not and fuel hatred and intolerance of the beliefs of others.

But anyway I still think of Yorkshire as the home of cricket.

This article is brilliant. It’s a not-so-thinly veiled attempt to defend Yorkshire cricket by claiming that Asian heritage cricketers born and raised in Yorkshire aren’t really Yorkshireman and this whole racism thing is political correctness gawnnn mad.

You’re only a real Yorkshireman if you can drink 10 pints of Tetley’s bitter in under 90 minutes.

Anyone refusing to take up the challenge should not represent the county at cricket.

Racist basted

Do we ban the Englishman, Scotsman and Irishman jokes? Isn't that racist when the Scots are portrayed as tight-fisted and the Irish as thick? It appears to be acceptable under the guise of "humour". Does national pride make you a racist?
When I was at college my room-mate was a black West Indian. He was also my drinking mate and one of the happiest and nicest people I have known. To see the reaction of customers and bar staff was amusing when I called him Black Bstd and he called me White Trash. I get bored of people shouting "Racism". It happens in most countries. Racism is wrong but you have to deal with it. Some folks should travel a bit more and experience the cultures and customs of other countries. From my travels the UK and especially Holland are the most racially tolerant. I totally disagree with organisations like the National Front but they have a right to express their opinions peacefully.

At this point I’m not 100% sure you’re not a parody account. For your sake I hope you are.

I mean, we can play deliberately missing the point if you like.

The story in the OP and the one I linked above clearly reflect a wider issue that's not going to be adequately addressed by demonizing one cricketer or media outlet. It may be more palatable to attribute institutional racism to one or two individuals but it's naive to think they're doing it in a vacuum.

Yorkshire racism! Told a few people off, made examples of them. Sorted. Right? Oh no here's Essex as well.. And here's a decent percentage of sports clubs up and down the country where people have put up with it for years cos that's just what happens..

Here's thousands of people that get racially abused daily in one way or another, cos it's 'funny' or normalised where they are. Well it isn't ok. We need to grow up as a society and realise that. It's not easy and it certainly won't happen overnight. But it'll never happen if we just blame individuals and don't address the root cause.
