I probably missed it on here but John Souttar eh.
Great signing for us on a free. Not quite as good as last seasons Goldson yet but better than this seasons version imo.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
we know he will be good enough for the league, dunno how he will be at champ league level however?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It would be the same question mark over Goldson tbf. I think whoever we have a CB is getting a riding if we get into the groups.

Is Boyls still at Hibs? cant imagine he will be starting or wanting to ever kick a ball for hibs again.
That offer that he has is unbelievable for him there is no way he does a single thing to jeopardise that.
30k a week tax free?! thats prob the equivalent of abut 45-50k a week here
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Nice wee earner if you can get it!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
proper life changing money for him and his family. Surely the club will see sense and let him go?

Agree.
I think there is room for growth and development in Souttar. He does seem to get caught a lot when Hearts concede. Hes not as bad as Porteous in that respect but he can be better.
Very good addition to the squad on a free if he can stay fit.
He is very good at bringing the ball out from the back which we need domestically at least.

Unfortunately tends not to work that way, they must be confident of getting the 3m or close to it they value him at, and I suppose he signed the contract which I assume included this agreed buy out clause?

kinda does, players have the power, if he doesnt get that move im pretty sure he wont kick a ball for hibs again. I wouldnt !
Hopefully he doesnt start tonight , hes a proper outball for hibs and Starfelt didnt seem very comfortable with him in the final
The mystique over CBs ‘that can bring the ball out’ is gash btw. Any cant on the pitch that cant make a pass shouldn’t be playing the game at the level asked. Then there’s the teams where the midfield shat themselves from receiving it which is another issue.

there is a difference between just finding another body in your team and working on patterns of play.... threading the ball to the strikers feet, playing in the winger with an accurate over the top. Laying the ball of to the right player to start one of your patterned attacks
Goldson's best attribute is the long pass rather than coming out with it. That has been an effective weapon for Rangers so i hope Souttar has a bit of that in him because or other CBs don't.

Its a big part of how Rangers play though.
Goldson in particular loves taking the ball from the keeper and pinging a 60+ yard raking pass from the back. He is very decent at it and we have scored a few goals from it last couple of seasons.
Plus lot of teams back off and let the CBs have the ball. So having at least one of the two CBs who is comfortable carrying the ball into midfield is a big plus.
From what I have seen of Souttar that is one of his strengths.

You bears won't have seen it for a while but the step up in quality when you get to the CL groups is frightening, you get so used to knowing who is good in your team and praising them weekly then you realise at that level they are miles off, its schite tbh
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Given that Celtic were taking tonkings in the CL whilst routinely putting 5 past us in OF games I think most of us recognise its a different ball game.
We are absolutely miles off anything other than bottom of the group in the CL.
We just need to make it to the groups to get the cash that will hopefully go a way to improving so that we can at least aim for second bottom of the CL group next time out
Souttar has been fcking awful against Celtic
kyogo ran him ragged in the 3-2 game at celtic park
pretty sure he was to blame for two of the goals .
same again in the 1-0 game had two horrible moments - that said he played well and scored against celtic at Tynecastle - but for me hes not celtic or rangers standard
To be fair Celtic defence has seen the step up to Europa League be quite frightening of late.
I jest. We're both strugglers at CL level. For any wrestling fans of 90s its proper J.O.B. Squad Al Snow pin me pay me stuff. Take our doing and once we get our cash we'll leave without a fuss.
On Souttar I think he's a decent signing but carries a bigger injury risk and history than would be ideal. But for a free transfer and Scottish registration purposes he fills a role we kinda need.
The two soundest people on here are rangers fans tbf and its miller and ath.
Absolute saints which is ironic as they will both burn in hell.
I think its been increasingly sensistive lately, people need to lighten up

Have to be honest and say I wasn’t getting the hype with him either. I thought it was more to do with the way he came back from such a long time out through injury, which in itself would be a concern.
