Chelsea can breathe more easily now

If his assets had been frozen it would have left them in limbo

He has said he will not be asking for the £1.5 billion he lent the club and there will no quick sale and all due diligence will be carried out.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

He is still a Russian crook, Hounslows, and he is obviously trying to make a quick backdoor exit, before he gets investigated again, about where his money cond from that he has pumped into Chelsea. This sounds extremely dodgy to me.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Why am I surprised at your comments Sandy!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The guy is an utter kant Brummie. I am surprised that you are surprised.

Gutted to be honest Biggish, not only the best owner you could hope for but a fan as well!

Yes, he is the most significant owenr in the PL history. Disrupted the Arsenal United dominance and has not taken a penny out of the club, unlike the Glazers.

Do you honestly think away from Chelsea he's not been involved in some absolute awful stuff? Surely you're not this naive or don't you care as long as you win stuff.

Just read up on some of the stories on him. He's fit to play the part of a Bond Villain.

So the questions is, how many other club owners have offered donations to victims of the Ukraine war?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

That's really not the question at all. The real question is why he's doing this. Is it genuine altruism or a PR move in a desperate attempt to not lose all of his assets in the UK? Colour me skeptical of a billionaire made by Putin, but I'm going with the second option.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Perfectly reasonable to go with that option. I can't be certain, but i do think proceeds to the victims is a message to Putin. I can't see what else it can be tbh.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Fair point. The fact he used the words 'war in Ukraine' is telling, too.

United would hold Malcolm Glazer in the same esteem if they'd won as much as Chelsea over the last decade.

I know he saw an opportunity to buy oil companies at rip off prices and did so without feeling guilty about effectively ripping off the russian people, but then again you have to appreciate Russian culture is very diffreent to ours.

I know he has done some great things in this country for Covid, racism and jewish people.

What lies in between has always been rumours, not unreasonable, but every rumour that led to a court investifagtion, Roman won.

I can't say more than i know.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

We were protesting against him from the off. There were protests 5 months after we won 3 titles on the the
Bounce.

Chelsea and City fans can't afford to have morals. That's the harsh reality.

Had Roman been as bad as the Glazers.... Chelsea fans would have reacted a lot differently this week given the situation.

What have the Glazers done wrong?

You're the biggest spenders in Europe.

I would say that this should shut up all the bell end opposition fans that have been spouting shiiite the last few days. But we all know they'll carry on regardless. Not a brain cell between them.

17 years on we are still 490m in debt. That's not even including the 1.2bn that has been spent on debt interest either.

We were a debt free club. Still are in my eyes because that's their debt in truth.

Maybe so but I'd much rather be back to where we were in 2004.

What have they done for the club? Absolutely nothing positive. People try and give them credit for marketing success. Anyone could make a success of marketing this club. We are like the NY Yankees and Dallas Cowboys....we don't even need to win to be the biggest club on earth.

It’s just interesting how things are spun really. Not getting Chelsea to repay the 1.5bn is the headline doing the rounds and people clapping it. Well of course he isn’t lol they don’t have 1.5bn lying around to repay him do they? So as a creditor if he called that in and the club can’t repay the club goes in to administration, then he gets a fraction of what it’s worth. So hes just increased the sales price to include what’s owned to him. But people who don’t understand and just see the ‘writing off 1.5bn’ clapping and applauding it like he’s a modern day Robin Hood lol
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That is a fair point, but hold judgement until the sale is actually made and the terms and cocnditions clear.

If it is an unconditional sale then i would say fair play to Roman.

However, if he maintains some kind of debt repayment covenant on the club then i would agree with your view that this is just a cynical business decision
----------------------------------------------------------------------
What judgement.

Here are his options... demands the club pay him back, and effectively put the club into 1.5 billion of debt... therefore only be able to sell the club for 500 mill because it comes with huge debt.

Or sell the club for 2 billion as it has no debt, and make himself out to be a hero.

Either way, he gets the same return, one just looks a lot better.

Tou missed the bit about a convenant and there are many other conditional options. It is not as simple as you make it out.

That's true in theory. Calling in that debt would just be a d!ck move that benefits no-one especially him. But he's always known that, he was never going to get out of Chelsea with that debt repaid by anything other than the buyer effectively writing it off, so it doesn't discredit the gesture even if the actual sincerity behind it isn't within that statement.

That was a backwards way of saying it but you get what I mean

I’m go at her hasn’t left Chelsea in the state he could have by writing off the debt, and the foundation is a nice gesture, but let’s not kid ourselves here, the man helped get Putin appointed as president and he is trying to avoid being sanctioned.

He’s selling all of his British assets, stocks and all, this isn’t out of the kindness of his heart, he is trying to paint a pretty picture.
