The time this has dragged on clearly shows a big gap in the respective club valuations.

Personally I am with Levy on this occasion. The kid has never played in the PL, much less be able to perform week in week out at top 3/4 level.

Nah, there has got to be plenty of other experienced rwb's across Europe who are an upgrade on what we currently have.

What you pay is relevant to what you get. So if he is quality and can improve on what we have, I have no problem with spending a decent chunk of the £150m budget to get him.

Spence is one for the future anyway and if Levy does get his way, fair enough, but I really don't care either way.

Leave the youth "project" to Arteta. I would prefer to get the finished article now, like other clubs do that actually win things, now.

100% they making a big deal pit of the homegrown. We getting rid or loaning of 4 to 5 foreign players in Bergwijn, ndombele, lo celso, Rodon and maybe Doherty or Emerson so there's space for 2 top class non brits for the champs league squad or prem.

Forest have just done a deal for Liverpool's young FB/RWB for £17m, Neco Williams

Similar age player to Spence, but with more experience having played at International level, and made +30 appearances for Liverpool, including in Europe. He had a strong 1/2 season with Fulham on loan getting them promoted. Fulham reportedly willing to pay £10m

This sets the benchmark and I actually thought LFC had done very well in getting £17m for a player, who despite a some reasonable experience, is still very young and raw and not good enough to act as cover for TAA. I think he has a title winners medal so even just being in that squad, working under a WC coach, is experience in itself.

Spence is a level below in terms of experience. One break out season having been shunned by his parent club. Any deal for him should be loaded with add-ons because its 50:50 whether he makes it at the highest level or not.

Levy is right to hold out here. £15m absolute tops here for me. That's a big sum to Boro and they are playing hardball as much as Levy, knowing that we probably want him now, for pre-season, and he's HG etc.....but no one will offer them more and actually very very clubs are in the market for wing backs. Boro will blink first!

Genuinely surprised you haven't enquired about Tavernier. I assume it's because he's 30 but what a player he would be at RWB.

Even better with less defensive responsibility. English too but the age and length of contract the kicker.

Dunfeies cheaper than spence? He’s miles better than spence.

I see Bergwijn has gone to Ajax for €30m …

Ajax want €68m for Anthony…

How can that be right?

Ridiculous…. Premier League clubs are expected to pay double ?!!

Is Traore worth a punt… got to be cheaper now?

Apparently Gibson quoted Forest £12m but as soon as we went in he wants £20m+. He is taking the P, but that is probably a consequence of dealing with Levy before, what goes around comes around.

This is similar to the Sessegnon deal from Fulham, we paid way over the odds for him too, we should be looking for someone who can step straight into the team and it's not Spence

From my pov, Spence has pace, speed and a great attitude and he links up very well

If you were to look at his stats, he is not great, the eyeball test suggests otherwise.

The downside is he can get easily marked out of games by a decent coach; which we (Forest) witnessed a few times last season; notably the playoff final.
However we were very one sided in our attack last season so stemming the threat from the right side was an effective tactic.

Is he worth £20m? Remember we sold Matty Cash to Villa a couple of seasons' ago and most fans rated Cashy as better. He went for considerably less than the figures quoted here.

Nice one Stretty.

When you watch Spurs play with their wing backs, there are plenty of times when they are just in wide open space or are free to make runs into the box while the ball is on the opposite flank. A quality attacking wing back could have a field day in our side i reckon.

Agree on the fee, their £20m valuation does not stack up against comparable sales

He's just doing what any good chairman looking out for the best interests of his club would do.

They will sell. They dont have to sell today to tomorrow, the last day of the window will probably do, so they stick their big price on him and wait.

Levy in the past has been happy to wait to get the best deal but you get the sense there is more urgency this season to get players in pre-pre-season, Boro probably know that so really they hold most of the cards. Forest no longer in the market for a RB so thats them out of the equation, so helps us.

If conte wants him and thinks he is the answer to a crucial position we are desperate to improve, pay up. If conte doesn’t care either way, do as levy does

I really don’t understand why people get so worried about the costs of a player. It’s surely all relative anyhow . Trust the club.

Same for the other way…maybe Conte doesn’t really want him.

Time will tell. Maybe there’s a bigger surprise at RWB
