The only reason to buy something with 2 wheels is if you can’t afford 4. Work that little bit harder and you’ll get to 4 I’m sure.
I ride.
First bike was a Suzuki A100 1981, got full license 1986, current bike is a BMW RG1200 GS, best bike was a Suzuki GSXR 1000 k6. Have toured and camped, done BSB, WSB and Moto GP in UK, France and Holland. Visited war sites in Belgium and France, best road trip was 2.5k round trip to the stelvio pass on a week. Two weeks ago I was in the lakes, dales and forest of Bowland and I often ride to home games.

Interesting, never considered it a phase before though funnily enough I did consider going to football a phase when I started around 79, yet I still have a season ticket today.
wouldnt trust myself on a bike.
Awesome machines but they are dangerous... you WILL come off it, its inevitable.
Lost my uncle in a bike accident
I had a Honda Goldwing in the 80’s and 90’s and toured europe best days of my life.
Another former 'fizzy' owner here (mid-80's).
Sold it for a cheap 125 to pass my test then got a 350 'valve', GPz550 (rode to Spain on it), stage II tuned 500LC then a GSX-R1100 (slabby) which i took off the road in 1990 and raced it for a couple of years.
I'd happily get another bike but half the fun back in the day was going out with your mates (Box Hill/Chelsea Bridge/blasts down to the coast etc) but no-one rides anymore.

I find it so, there are some that go on about the danger, some say no one rides anymore etc. People die, but though I have known of people that have died riding and attended a few funeral rides myself, I have personally known far more people that have died from other causes. 3 far too young from brain annurisms.
I have met many riders that I meet up with regularly, 3 of them o went to the lakes with, 2 are also Chelsea fans, one is a Wimbledon fan. I regularly ride with Mayes local and from further afield and enjoy riding on my own. Whenever you stop if there are other motorcyclists around you can easily strike up a conversation. I went to an airshow on my own on my bike Saturday and got chatting to others on bikes not to mention passers by that just wanted to chat. I could of gone with mates but wasn't sure if go myself due to working late on Friday and the heat but I had a great day. I was parked up next to a Moto guzzi rider from Southampton then a victory rider and his other half turned up from Norwich. They were on route to Cornwall then up to Scotland over the next two weeks. I've met some great friends over the years on bikes, my best mate has just got a 750 gixer, he passed his test a week after me and had an original zx10 back on the day.
I find riding so much fun. A sunny ride in the country with or without friends can't be beat but having said that, some of my favourite and most memorable rides I have got soaked to the skin if not had a huge grin on my face. Commuting to work in a car was a grumpy experience, on a bike I'd arrive with a smile on my face., Even at 04:30 in the morning at minus 5.
I have used all sorts on the road from a bicycle to a 26 ton lorry. I love my bike, I also enjoy my car, I have had some decent ones but this one is convertible and on a sunny day in the country it can be almost as much fun as the bike.

I used to do a bit trial biking in me teens , would eventually like a Honda XL 250 or 400 as a project , Iam a fully trained Audi & VW master tech for 30 years so could do one up , CBT course is a must yes deffo
I have a 125 twist & rip gets me about in the summer!
Have thought about doing the full license and getting a proper bike but I just don’t think it’s worth the risk. A guy was killed by us Sunday on the m53!
Don’t think I could worry the mrs & kids with it!
Passed my CBT and theory this year and riding a Mutt Fat Sabbath 125. Awesome little machine. Gonna go for the full licence next year and got my eyes on a Triumph Trident 660. Just the sheer exhilaration and freedom from riding a motorbike is something you'll never get from a car. I love it and recommend anyone thinking about starting to go for it👍😎

You don’t have to be riding a 200hp super bike (or be going fast) to end-up seriously hurt or worse.
Just treat every other road user as someone who is trying to kill you and you should be fine.
I’ve been riding motorbikes for nearly 50 years now and I love them.

There’s a difference between tootling along on a 30mph road and doing 70mph with all the others on the roads.
On a bike you have no control or protection from other morons about, you could be the safest rider in the world and just one idiot is all it takes.

One overriding motto that always stuck in my mind was “Ride Defensively”. In other words, don’t go wizzing off at every opportunity even if you want to show the world your shiny new purchase.
I took my test in February 1975 when all you had to do was drive around three or four streets, pull up on an emergency stop and correctly answer a few Highway Code questions. The pass elevated me from a Honda CB250K4 to a Norton 850 Commando almost overnight. Don’t be like me and get something that you have problems controlling because it’s either too powerful or heavy. I went over on sand in Chelmsford a few months after purchase and by-standers had to help me upright the thing.
