It is a bit weird that in this day of technology and 6 match day officials, it is still down to the ref to time keep.
Feigning injury to get the game stopped is massively abused. Defenders just go down holding their head when pressure needs to be relieved. Serious injuries tend to be very obvious, so all this stopping the game because a little finger brushed someones chest and the player goes down holding his head needs to be stopped.
Keepers need booking much earlier in regards to taking ages with goalkicks. They don't get booked until the last 10 mins which is often about 30 mins too late. Injured players should be removed from the pitch with play allowed to continue.
This time wasting by clubs, like players going down holding their feet or pretending they have another cramp should be top of the refs meetings, but do they even discuss this?
They need to start resolving this otherwise come full time, we will end up with additional times of 10+mins????

Do what they do in rugby (I’m sure they still do it) - physio comes on during the game. Appreciate this wouldn’t be perfect and play has to happen around them…

Look at the Varpool match, the referee basically kept playing until they scored, there was 5 mins of added time and they scored in the 8th minute of added time.
Then there was Newcastle`s disallowed goal for offside, which was clearly onside but manufactured into an offside by the VAR ref, talk about bent officiating.

It’s a minimum of 5 minutes. Add on them timewasting and an apparent injury to their keeper
Pope went down "injured" for 2 minutes in the 92nd minute.
We won the corner at 96:30 and scored at 97:07.
It was a nice change of pace to actually see the time get added on as it should.

I have no idea how bright the average professional referee is, but I'd take a guess that on the whole they're not the brightest lights in the chandelier.
Should be doing what they do in most sports these days, stop the clock , football is so far behind in lots of aspects including head injury assessment protocol

If you saw the Leeds Everton game you may have seen the ref talking over his headset to his aid when Pickford was time wasting!..
The tricks and crap Everton played was a sham but nothing was done against it!..
And time added was diabolical!..
Every time the balls goes out of play or the keeper rolls around on the floor after a save (the worse one at the moment) the ref should stop his watch and add the time on at the end.
It just never happens.
