Whataboutery doesn’t detract from the very real issue that in 2022 homosexuals should feel safe and have equal rights in any country they choose to visit.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Their country their rules. We have no say in that. Tourisits should pipe down and behave according to local laws. When in Rome....
----------------------------------------------------------------------
In that case FIFA shouldn't take a World Cup anywhere where the laws go against FIFA's own values.

If the west are so anti Qatar and anti those who are against homosexuality then they should stop doing trade with them. Stop trade with Saudi, Qatar and all those countries who haven't legalised homosexuality .
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You seem to be fixated on homosexuality and blatantly ignoring the other valid reasons why the Qatari regime should be criticised.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Probably because the liberals are also fixated on that aspect. Will there be any armbands or gestures for the dead workers?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yes, impossible to be able to have an opinion about more than one thing

Amazing.

Ji - you can assume what you want, doesn’t impact my life in the slightest.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I will.

I just find it a bit daft to say you don't mention your beliefs on here, while also saying you find some aspects of western thinking degenerate.

Take it up with FIFA. The WC is happening whether we like it or not. The time to protest was in 2012 when it was awarded to Qatar not now.

I would change that to say that the time to protest has been since 2012, and we should have all been protesting since the decision was made and continued that protest up to and beyond the tournament.

There should be pressure on FIFA to ensure a country that doesn't uphold its values should never host a major tournament again.

Very good reasons to criticise Qatar, better reasons than most. And it should go without saying that primitive fairy worship is not a valid excuse for any sort of evil behaviour whether at home or abroad.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Fairy worship doesn't exist in West or East. If you mean God and faith say so. I'm not a believer but don't feel the need to insult those who do.
The believers I know are generally nice people and don't insult atheists.

Robb - I have not said anything on this site that is even close to as bad as some others. There are people who have used extremely explicit and threatening language as well as death threats, racism etc and still are here
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Didn't you just tar the whole of the west as having degenerate behaviours?

As for those who criticise Qatar for poor labour conditions and workers rights, what do you have to say about Dubai and the rest of the UAE?

----------------------------------------------------------------------

I'd say exactly the same thing about *any* authoritarian state that runs its society based on an imported serving class that lacks the same protections and rights as the elite, and turns a blind eye to its inevitable exploitation and abuses.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You've literally just described every country or society itself

What about the right of others to determine what flies and what doesn't in their environment. We see the Qataris as degenerate homophobes. They see us as degenerate homosexuals.

If you did a referendum over there, homophobes would win that by the mother of all landslides. How does this tie in with democracy? The will of the people. Brexiteers keep telling us the will of the people is supreme. How goes it there?

Bigoted according a minority. Majority of the Worldham always been and are against homosexuality. Tell how many African countries have legalised homosexuality?

Those countries in the world that have legalised it, were their views bigoted until then?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

In spite of everything, I'm still looking forward to the Worldham Cup.

There should absolutely be pressure put on any country wanting to hold the World Cup in this respect. I have no issue with Qatar getting it in principle but they've changed very little in the 10 years. There should be a caveat in the contract award that it can be taken away from any host nation if they don't hit those targets by the time the World Cup comes round. I'm sure the likes of England, Germany, Spain could step up and host at pretty short notice if absolutely required.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yes. I abhore homosexuality.

I think the concept is disgusting and against nature. I don't believe people are born as homosexuals. They choose to be homosexual after being brain washed by the content they see online or taught in schools.

Men have an inclination towards women and women have an inclination towards men. Simple. There's no other way about it. This is not a bigoted concept, it's not backwards thinking, or extremism or hate of any kind.

If homosexuality became prevalent how would our generations continue?

If I came across a person who practiced homosexuality and I came to know about it, I wouldn't have even the slightest of hatred or malice towards the person. There would be a feeling of sympathy towards that person because of the path he/she has adopted.

And this has been the option of billions of people since the beginning of time and majority of the world today also subscribe to this opinion.

Just because western media and government say its fine to be gay that doesn't make it fine.

Come on, open your eyes and mind and understand what's going on.

Robb this is well known. There will be too many old to young. It’s basic maths. You can work this out based on how many people are having children nowadays to how old people are living. You will have an older and sicker population that is less young. Youth runs societies. Nations that have this will be stronger and will eventually leverage this
----------------------------------------------------------------------
And?
