Rangers out of contracts

Sean Dyche commenting on Rangers links, with i know Ross Wilson but i think i've still got a small window of opportunity in the Premier League, if not I'll broaden my horizons.

I take that as i'm interested if i don't get a PL job soon, might explain why we persist with GVB for now.

Watford will be overdue for a sacking. They can't get into a circumstance the PM has been sitting less time than their gaffer

Southampton appoint Luton manager Nathan Jones.

Their legendary manager identification process has picked this guy out, Haven't seen him proposed for the bears or anyone else but then the same goes for most of Southampton's appointments. They fair do their homework. Hope Wilson had the list?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
strange appointment??

hassenhuttl had good pedigree behind him, doing excellent jobs at tough gigs.

Jones has done a decent job with Luton but the rest o his career prior is a bit iffy, hasnt managed at that level either.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I never really get the 'never managed at that level' or 'won nothing' arguments.

Had he already managed at that level then he is either in a job doing well so unavailable or had been managing but been sacked in which case we'd hear 'was a failure at club x'.

It is why Southampton look beyond all that scheite and analyse how he brings young players through, what he sells developed players for, what attacking systems he deploys, what mentality of player he signs, what standards he sets for the club.

Realistic stuff for a trading club that might get into Europe as the high water mark and has served them well with an unbelievable record staying in the EPL so long for the size they are.

Football is football with the fundamentals being the same at every level. They trust their process.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
na you do have to look at the levels they have managed at before ... the further up you go the more detailed the job becomes. the bigger the ego's you are dealing with. far more attention on you, far more pressure.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I agree to an extent but it is a balance, a blend. Anyone with all the qualifications is in a bigger job outside of 15 or so teams.

Southampton eschew much of it and stick to their recipe book and it has largely worked for them is all I'm saying. Red Bull similar.

oh there is no rule of thumb thats for sure. just cos someone hasnt shown they can do the job doesnt mean they cant .... just a bit surprised that they didnt seem to follow the same route that seemed to work previously.

their last 6 managers had all had experience at the higher levels of the game.

These guys have to get experience at a higher level at some point. Seems Southampton think he could do it. Can't all wait for someone to show promise at a higher level, otherwise nobody gets a chance

again i havent denied that however it seems more and more that staying in the EPL is the be all and end all for most clubs down there , with that tends to be far less risk placed in making appointments like this.

Also as I said it defo breaks the trend of their past 6 managers

Np. Wasn't aimed at you 👍

it's the same in every walk of life. Doesn't have experience. How should he/she get it without someone taking a chance?

Going back to the OP....in all honesty, I'd let them all go

Ridiculous that we are in a situation to let players like Kent and Morelos go for did all given where their value was a year or two ago...stupidly never cashed in if there was an opportunity to do so

We need a clear out and freshening up

Would have felt like a disaster saying that a few months ago but I can understand the thought.

Think we’ve got a big overhaul coming regardless but 1/2 for continuity can be a good thing.

This is where we were when Rodgers came in. Wanted everyone gone and replaced. Same with Lennon although to a lesser extent.

A good manager/coach makes players better and instils in them a sense of belief, purpose and recognition of what they are capable of.

Nobody can come in and replace pretty much an entire team in one season and expect any success. It just doesn’t happen.

Rangers have capable players who can be managed better. A few need replacing. Not the entire team.

Yup, say it every year but squad of 30 something and average contract length then it is inevitable these are the types of numbers needing dealt with every window.

posted on 11/11/22

Would like to see us go for younger players but there needs to be a balance. 1 or 2 experienced types then early or mid twenties ideally.

Understand that's being said...but the list above is players our of contract, or players that need a lot ofoneu spent to keep them

I'd let them all go, use that cash elsewhere...these guys have had their shot...new manager or not, they've not earned a new contract...cheerio

The idea of letting Kent go on a free is beyond deluded.

We might not be able to agree a deal with him, but quite obviously keeping him would be a massive boost.
