Brave Starmer choosing the exact same time to slip out that Corbyn is barred from standing for election again.

If the SNP elect another leader hell bent on discussing independence above everything else, then shame on them. Politics is not a single issue, we need a government capable of addressing more than the one issue here.

While there is a case for it (indi), and not all decisions taken at Westminster are right, if the successor arrives with surgeon's old battered drum, then the SNP are finished imo.

I do hope the SNP will now call for an early Scottish election to give their new leader a mandate to lead, with a new manifesto. Our neighbours do things a little different, no reason why we should accept the same.

I thought Sturgeon was a good leader, she never took any pash from any prime minister and has done a pretty good job in running the County. She can't help it if some imbeciles have messed things up. (Ferry fiasco)

If by never taking any pash means ignoring people or ridiculing them when they ask sensible questions that challenge her, then yeah; she’s been amazing.

The ferry fiasco is down to her (amongst everything else). Unless her continual “I take full responsibility” was a lie

Or a professional association or the like understandably trying to protect its members (whoever they might be) from such very public abuse while doing their job?

behave mate.

aye its late and over budget but covid resulted in a decrease in availbility of raw material and an increase in the cost of it.

pretty predictable that it would be late and overbudget.

what i will say is that i've been dealing with FPSO's in brazil for sometime and whilst they have been delayed its not to the same extent.

Great politician and communicator but was there anything that was actually a success under her leadership?

She didn't take the independence movement forward, NHS is in the worst place its ever been, the attainment gap has increased, highest drug deaths in the Western World, the gender ID debacle, we even had kids in George Square protesting the handling of exam results through COVID where there was a clear class bias to outcomes and the ferry fiasco amongst others. We also seem to forget her memory lapses when it came to the Salmond scandal or questions over her husband's party donations.

She's had a good run but I'm not really sure what her legacy is despite being in power for 8, nearly 9 years?

The Queensferry crossing was under budget

As I said elsewhere on this site, she did improve the reputation of Scotland through her interactions with foreign leaders, and through her work to ensure Scotland was a world leader on progressive and inclusive legislation. Scottish issues have also pushed their way to the forefront of the UK political consciousness which is no small feat for a country oft-forgotten by our cousins down south.

But as mentioned, her government has failed on many issues domestically and that shouldn't be forgotten.

Her success is also in my opinion a reflection on the opposition. We've had a Tory party who are more obsessed with independence than the SNP (and understandably given the electoral 'success' they've had with that approach), and a Labour party that shot itself in the head in 2014 and took nearly a decade to figure out that actually it maybe wants to detach itself from the whole independence discussion.

the snp have brought forward some good policies based on helping the people of scotland.

Education is a massive failure though, everytime they reform to improve it things get worse.

In voting for a politician i hope they will at least have scotlands best interests at heart and i think she did, which is more than i can say for labour and particularly scottish conservatives.

here see that conservative thomas kerr, has anyone ever looked more like a greasy wee goblin btw?
