I was brought up believing the French were a bunch of cheese eating surrender monkeys but it turns out they'll riot at the drop of a hat and it's us who are the shiitebags.

Apparently Michael Nicholson has negotiated a fee of £25M upfront + add ons for the sale of Jota. This was after the initial offer of £15M plus £10M in installments over the duration of the contract.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Not that any of us want to lose Jota, but that would be some deal if true. Mind you, still looks an absolute bargain after reading this on today’s Beeb footie gossip …

“Former Juventus, Paris St-Germain and Italy goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon, 45, has been offered a £25m-a-year deal to move to the Saudi Pro League. (Mail)”

Absolutely legend in his day, but WTF?! They’ll be signing up Gazza next.

You cant look to set up a transfer model and praise it then moan at it when it happens real time.

If teams are coming in and offer considerable amounts of money for your players then you are doing it correctly. Its exactly what to want to happen the more regularly it happens the more the club can grow and its only by growing that you may start getting to a point where financially and reputation wise you can keep them.

Any club that fails to sell their best player assets, for the highest possible value, doesn't have the best interests of the club at heart.

Celtic have done well with their player trading model, and I doubt Jota will be the only popular player to be sold during this window.

It's a reality we just have to accept.

Looks like the dessers deal is done, 4.4 million, medical booked for today or tomorrow

Looks a big strong lad, top scorer in the euro conference 2 seasons ago

He can't be worse then morelos was at the end, see how it goes.

Cifuentes expected this week as well, likely be him and raskin sitting in the midfield, cantwell and lammers playing in forward positions, sima out wide, need to see how it works out, if comes off Looks exciting.

Early days in Celtic's business but currently Rangers have to be the clear favourites for the league.

Yea right, as I said it looks good on paper, need it all to click first so lots of work to be done.

Bears not allowed to feel good about a new team being put together without the wee catty digs.

Per norm for the course on here

Cifuentes is much more of a box to box player than a sitting cm from what I have seen.

Who’s moaning? I certainly wasn’t, and fully understand and support our business model.

Cannot deny this lad life changing money, its an absurd amount of cash that will set him and his childrens children up for life.

personally i'm gutted i won't get to see him play anymore, he's a fantastically entertaining young man.

you being serious? there is loads of folk on here and elsewhere wanting Jota to stay .... If you get interest like this you SELL .... Saudis will give you great money and the more money you get the better chance you have to replace him and rinse and repeat.

Plenty are saying he shouldnt be sold. Plenty wiht the old "we are celtic and we shouldnt be selling our best players".

this obv isnt exclusive to Celtic fans clearly.

of course we want him to stay, money isn't entertaining, he is.

you will always get people on both sides of the fence, personally i'd rather he didn't go but can't deny the lad the opportunity to be mega rich.

there is a difference between wanting him to stay and complaining that your selling your best players.

You need to sell players like him as regular as you can so you get yourself to a point when you can pay more and be able to keep better players longer.

the reason your the top team just now is cos you have the money and by selling your players like Jota you maintain that gap.

i believe we need to sell players, i think i'd rather keep the best players though.

look at larsson, would it have been smart to sell him?

nut.

Celtic would be daft to turn down £20m+ for Jota

Like getting two champions league campaigns in the one season....and no doubt scottish football will lose that automatic group spot again soon

Seen Dessers being spoken about...£4.4m

That's quite a lot for us in my opinion, wasn't willing to see us pay the £5m for Tillman, and given we have already spent £3.5m on Lammers....think we need to start selling

Yilmaz, Matondo, Lawrence, Lowry, Lovelace? depends on how much money your talking about.

Wright looks like he will be sold.

Any bids for Cantwell and Raskin should be considered also regardless of them only being here 6 months.

I'm not saying there are players in our squad that are worth big money

Kamara
Barasic
Lundstram
Davies
McCrorie
Hagi
Matondo
Wright
Roofe
Colak

Could raise a decent bit of money selling a number of those players

Still think it’ll be Raskin sitting and Cifuentes box to box.

With Dowell, Lawrence and Danilo still being talked about would be brilliant depth in midfield and attack for first time in 10 years, assuming Sakala stays too. Question marks over Hagi, Wright, Kamara, Matondo, Colak, Roofe, expect a few of those to leave.

After that a lcb and we’re looking in good shape
