I just don’t get how we are so unwilling to make signings at CB for reasonable money.
All that guff about stadiums and training facilities are so obviously bs now.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Levy just doesn’t have a clue about how to build a successful strategy. That’s why we signed 5 full/wing backs in 2 years - the club hd no idea how it wanted to play so we signed a purely defensive RB in Royal to compete with wing back Doherty, then 12 months later we made a “club signing” at Right Wing Back in Spence who never plays and then 5 months later we sign a converted right winger in Porro - so we have an out and out right back, a wing back and a converted winger for the right hand side of defence - what’s the faaacking strategy??
Left back is just mental, we already had Sess, Davies and Reggie, Conte insisted on Perisic - but then the club insisted on Udogie also - so now we have 5 left backs/wingbacks - 5 players for one position - we have 5 CBs for 2 positions though and only Romeronis good enough.
Zero faaacking squad building strategy, it’s just paint by numbers
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Our full backs explain everything about where we've been going wrong over the last 5-7 years. They're a glimpse into the muddled thinking, lack of philosophy and tendency to flip-flop between manager styles.
What we're seeing at Spurs is exactly the same as we're seeing at Everton. No one can accuse Moshiri of lacking ambition. He's spent half a billion and more but look where they are - fighting for their lives. We are not immune to the same fate. If this doesn't turn around soon, I can genuinely see a flirtation with the drop. Lose Kane and it's a very real possibility. He's masked so many issues at the club for the last 10 years.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I don’t think losing Kane puts us in danger of relegation at all
Kane is world class but pep was right ….we are the Harry Kane team
I genuinely believe we can be a better team without him
With him we are so reliant on him that when he plays badly we look so bad ….without him if we have an attacking system we can afford an off day for one or two but still get results
I’m fed up of relying on just one man to get us results and the whole circus that’s become him

I agree Kane doesn't have to be the be all and end all. We have still been a largely rubbish team these past few years with Kane scoring for fun. We still reached a CL final from the group stages onwards without Kane. He's been important for the club but other players and areas can be just as important.
In some ways he's held the club back, through no fault of his own, by the club being too reliant on him and his presence having too much influence in decisions made in transfer windows.
There will be an adjustment period post Kane, he is massive for us, but we will get over it in time like we did with Modric and Bale.
It’s just frustrating going back to the start of a cycle, but that’s where we are
Some folks have got it nailed on the mast, like one of those Sonny curlers to the roof of the goal!!
Its about ambitions and levels of this. Levy's ambition is profit. If he can achieve that while keeping the costs down, he will do that even if it means we spent cheaply and got a championship player!
I hate to say it but admire how Arsenal board have backed Arteta in the last 2 seasons, alone to the tune of £250m+
Back your manager - simple. That's how teams win trophies (with bit of luck too)
Now we have the Germans hovering around us to snatch our best player away...That's because we are in shambles and the best player had won fkall so the Germans know they can dangle CL and trophies to Kane.
What can we dangle to Kane? Yet another manager - no stability, a chairman who dithers in every sale, unless its very cheap to start with and every press linking him with a move!
This chairman is a laughing stock mate!
Should stick to off the football matters.
Spurs biggest problem imo is getting the last three managers drastically wrong.

The problem is you cannot trust Levy to replace Kane or even improve the team. So yes we can be in trouble when he goes.
We’ve got great forwards, midfielders & now plenty of ‘different type’ full backs to choose from… even sorted the goalkeeping issue…
But the Centre Back issue is glaringly still , a massive problem.
Levy cannot have a clue on footballing matters, if he thinks Ange will be able to deal with, what we’ve already got!
He could bring in Van de Van… Tosin A… & even Lenglet relatively cheaply…
It’s in danger of ruining our season, before it’s even started, ffs!!

OP
Decent article, but I am beyond caring now. The CBs issue is a shambles, as is the Kane is he staying or is he going.
I am personally just looking forward to the season now, whatever happens in the transfer market, I think Spurs will have a decent season.
The midfield really excites me now. Maddison looks a bargain, Bissouma looks to have now settled, Lo Celso has really looked good pre season, the emerging talent of Sarr, and of course Bentancur still to come back in. Looks very tasty. Certainly an upgrade on what was for most of last season PEH and Skipp.
Up front I think Spurs will be fine, even if Kane goes, Solomon looks decent, Richie will be the main man, and I am certain he can deliver. Obviously not in Kane numbers, but enough, if some of the others contribute to make a big difference.
The key is at the back, if no new CBs are purchased, just keep the ball as far away from the back four as possible. The goals up the other end, should outweigh any mistakes from the current defence hopefully.
The important thing is to attack, it is Spurs strength, so use it as much as possible.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I’m certain we will sign a CB - the issue is I fully expect that it will be so late in the window that the new CB won’t even be playing until about 5 games in
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It's going to be Lenglet isn't it?!
If it is and we don't sign at least one of VDV or Tapsoba, I think I'm done. I'm not gonna back a team owned by someone who doesn't give a damn. I'll watch football but I think I might take a back seat from supporting us. I don't want to give that cuuuunt any more of my money and I think every fan should be doing the same.
All the while every other club in the top 10 us showing real ambition, it's making Levy seem more and more like Mike Ashley. Seriously, what's the point of hoping if there isn't any?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Lenglet, a new contract for Dier and Ange saying Sanchez is like a new signing
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Wait for it....wait for it....YES!!
That's the likeliest outcome
Levy will just drag this one out, to the point where other clubs have retracted their players on sale, and we are now mumbling things under our breath (we as in management) to the effect that we are doing eveything to get players
Smokes and mirrors, the same with transfer spending where we get someone in Jan, and pay later but this confuses the dimmed trolls into thinking we are spending....
If you look at Arsenal, they have had purchases of over £60m whenever they identified a player and went for it...
We hover around £45m and see who we can rope in for that!
Like when you go fishing but take a small net, when other clubs take the widest nets, we take a net that is ok for a sardine, and never catch a mackerel!
I don't know how many ways I can make the Spurs transfer dealings visualised, but there you go.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Now consider the financial differences between us and Arsenal in terms of revenue. Not much difference really. We've had more CL revenue than them over the last 10 years, we have a bigger stadium. We host events to bring in even more. We might not have the same size fan base but financially, we should be in the same pond, but we're not. We're way off it. That's down to owner ambition. It's ALL on Levy and ENIC.

And what, IYHO is "a half decent season"?
Well, the only place Levy is taking us is backwards, our most potent offensive player and difference maker is about to be sold and we have the same championship standard defence as last season minus Lenglet.
