Cheers Adders

Despite the daft kick off time all tickets sold.

Everton have of course already been deducted 10 points for transgressing FFP rules. Other clubs will evidently find out if they are to be charged in the next fortnight. Chelsea surprisingly likely to escape punishment after their change of ownership. The club most at risk of punishment are evidently Forest following their large investments in the transfer market following their promotion.
Man City are of course part of a larger investigation

Hopefully this cup tie will see Neto back in the starting line up. With Hwang away it could be a forward line of Neto, Cunha and Sarabia. Hugo Bueno will replace Ait Nouri. Other changes will likely depend on whether GON feels players need a rest after playing 3 games in 6 days last week, and also if there are squad players like Bentley, Santi Bueno, Doherty and Bellegarde that he would like to give more game time to.

It evidently seems that with the enforced changes we will evidently end up with something very close to wolfie's preferred starting eleven?

Be nice to have a cup run, but I wont be devastated if we miss out.

Good job it's a leap year. It gives you an extra day to have a dig.

Completely passed me by that it’s a leap year. What a bonus

Rumours that we could be about to take 2 players on loan from PSG, Hugo Ekitike a forward (1 appearance this season, 0 goals) and Noha Lemina, a young forward on loan at Sampdoria (1 appearance this season, 0 goals) and younger brother of our own Mario.

Neither are terribly exciting to me (not stopping the kids on MM getting their usual January boners though) but might be worth taking on loan to see how they fit.

Ol' Gaz has made players out of Hwang and Sarabia in just a short few months, he could yet weave his magic with these.

I think Hugo Ekitike is actually really highly thought of. Must be difficult for a young forward to get a start in a team that has Mbappe, Ramos, Dembele and Ascensio though.

He played quite a bit last season, and got goals at Reims before he moved to PSG, just feels a bit like another Fabio scenario though.

Scouting report on him.

Seems to have a lot of qualities GON likes in a forward.

I don't think so. It will be a loan initially. He is older and played more games than Fabio Silva had.

Ekitike is definitely well regarded and would be an interesting signing with a lot of potential upside.

posted on 3/1/24

One potential upside would be that, with this being a leap year, we would be loaning him for an extra day. What a bonus!

Re Mario's brother, I was wandering if there's any history of 2 bothers doing well at the same club together. I suppose Kolo and Yaya Toure were OK.

Did Michael and Brian Laudrup ever play for the same club?

I'm sure he is a good prospect anyway, but I think it is also good of the club to bring Mario's brother over after their recent bereavement. There seems to be a togetherness about the players and the club at the moment, almost like in the peak Nuno days. Its really good to see.

I was comparing them now, today, same age similar number of appearances, same number of goals. Seems like we'd be replacing like with like.
