Some pretty reliable journos were linking him to us last week, so I reckon he might have rejected us. Not that I'm disappointed tbh.
He can't even get in the Leipzig team Robb. Meant to be really struggling for confidence since he returned to Germany.
If we did enquire about him and he's turned us down then that's a new low even for us but ultimately a good thing for me. We already have enough forwards who struggle in front of goal. We don't need more.
I don’t think he is very different to Højlund: both have great pace but struggle to hold the ball up and with the physicality of the EPL (Werner to a greater extent).
Werner has 2 in 14 this season, or around a 14% goal-to-game ratio, whilst Rasmus has 6 in 23, or around a 26% ratio; not to mention Werner is playing in a ‘lesser’ league in which he’s very familiar (this is his ninth season in the Bundesliga), whilst Rasmus is playing in his first in the EPL. Finally, Werner is 27, so around peak striker age, whilst Rasmus is just 20 and very much still learning his trade.
Given the above - combined with our distinct troubles in front of goal this season - you’d expect us to be (or at least trying to be) bringing in a much more prolific goal scorer.
A lot of reports that Leipzig are willing to pay a significant proportion of his wages too, which always brings with it a good deal of scepticism & doubt.
Regarding the rumours, most outlets said towards the end of this saga that we’d been offered Werner and ECM from Bayern, but had not initiated talks for either, which I’m abundantly relieved to hear.
I also saw us linked to Muller from Bayern. Probably trying (again) to get a better deal from them
I can't say i'm thrilled by us getting him on loan but in Ange we trust.
We’ve got more than enough players that can’t score in a brothel without adding another
Tbh I'm absolutely done with loan signings. They rarely ever work out for anybody and we have made countless moves in the loan market in recent seasons, without any success whatsoever for those individual signings.
I don't doubt we'll do it again and bring somebody in on loan but I'm equally sure that we'll look back and ask "what was the point?" This season is done and I'd rather we got on with it than further damage our reputation with yet another loan signings.
On Werner, it's possible he'll be a success at Spurs. I doubt it, but it's possible. But they have a "feel good factor" about them which will help him. Werner and any other loan signing would fail at United, I have no doubt about that whatsoever. Partially because loan players are available on loan for a reason and partially because at United they'd be walking into a cesspit

The problem for you is that those players live in the brothel every week. That's why you attack is so pash as the players can't muster a shot - it shows on GD of minus figure. The only side with a minus GD in the top 10

Let's face it - in the short-term, we would want to bring in a proven regular goalscorer, almost a talisman like figure of strong character who could maybe inspire the players around him, as well as give guidance to Hojlund. Almost a Zlatan type guy.
Muller might be the most similar to that, but I'm not sure he's that type of character. I don't see anyone else around of that nature.
But we would need to recognise it was for a short-term boost. We have normally brought in folk who just aren't the standard we need to improve the squad, which I don't see the point of, and there's where I put Werner. If we really wanted him, let's just get him (I hope not) but for me, he is definitely not the answer.
As has been said previously, it is difficult to come into a struggling squad like ours and make an impact, I think our current group really needs to show they are capable on a consistent basis of performing in a way similar to 'second half Villa', but I just can't see it. And I hope ETH gets it right, but I just can't see him turning it around.
Werner could work out at Spurs - Ang is the type of manager that could cajole improvement out of him, and at least he is going somewhere where there is positivity and true belief in the manager

Doesn't look the greatest of players but not a bad piece of business all things considered. It's who the manager wants and this is a manager we've had no reason not to trust so far, unlike ETH. Only a loan signing so no weight of a big price tag looming over the guy and putting the pressure to deliver, which also means if he doesn't we're not lumbered with him. We need more goals and attacking threat and he does have it in him to be decent, it's just up to us to do that, but as above, under a manager who believes in you, when it's a good manager, you can't really shake your head to it.

Why would u want Werner?? He was a flop, he ran fast and didnt score...that's why they binned him; tbh a perfect spurs player
It's an interesting signing. A good first step would be to teach him the offside rule.
When United were in for him the narrative in the media was it was a panic loan deal for United and he was a poor player. But the first heading on sky when spurs signed him and the narrative now is along the lines of it being a good deal for both sides and a no lose signing. Strange that 🤔

I thought all the media, pundits and the FA were all out to stop Spurs from bothering their darling big 5?
Going to Spurs, there is less pressure - he's going to a team that are all singing from the same hymn sheet, right behind the manager, and maybe Werner can show what he is made of. If it doesn't work out, it's been a risk worth taking for them.
Coming to Utd is different - under the microscope from day one, everyone pretty much expecting him to fail, and he would be under the same pressure as Hojlund is in terms of needing to score a lot of gaols from a limited supply. Honestly, I would pick Spurs over us in the current circumstances.
QThey’ve signed him on a loan deal until the end of the season. Have we missed out on a potentially decent loan signing in Werner?
A) No, he was f-ing garbage at Chelsea.

So he had the chance to tread in the hallowed footsteps of Odion Ighalo and Wout Weghorst, and decided not to.
We don't need that kind of negativity.
