Your optimism will be scuppered when we line up with Lindelof and Maguire at CB in the coming weeks.

I dont know how you are winning so many games tbh. Strange, but your firepower is impressive.

Bruno, rashford, garnacho and even hojlund now always capable of something

I said a while back on a manager's thread... Things can change quickly in football, if we carry on picking up points and playing to somewhat of a recognisable style of football.. ETH will be safe and the fans fairly happy.

It's hard not to be a bit optimistic with the ways players like Hojlund, Nacho and Mainoo are playing. The season's a write off, so hopefully we can just sit back and enjoy a style emerge.

If Licha only misses two or three games I really fancy us to do it.
---------------
He won't be back till end of March/early April which means he misses another 6/7. If Shaw is also out for a significant amount of time, we're in trouble. We've seen how over-reliant we are on those two this season. I know ETH has said Shaw was a precaution, but that could still be a few weeks with him.

Top 4 I don't think we'll get - it would take a collapse from Spurs which I can't see happening. I can see us getting 5th though provided we keep key players fit, which obviously might be enough for CL.

Maguire is currently one of our best players. Yesterday he was immense. MOTM.

11 wins from the final 14? That is a massive jump from the previous 24 were you have only won 13.
Top 4 requires you to make up 6 points and a big goal difference swing over Spurs that I cannot see happening tbh.

Top 5 could be CL, and Villa are there for the taking.

27-30 points from the last 14 would be a great return for this United team, meaning 68-71 points. Spurs would need to win half their remaining games which seems very plausible. The fact you have played them twice already doesn't help you.

Totally agree, but stick him alongside Lindelof and see how we get on.

I've always supported Maguire by the way.

well yes its the potential return of the Chuckle Brothers.

I think that reputation came out of the worst days when United were in turmoil. End of Ole and Rangnick, Ronnys return and the dressing room leaks days. They were often made scape goats when the rest in front of them were just as bad and DeGae was chucking it in his own net often. And as it got worse in the media, their form sufferred badly.

Lindelof hasnt had that much football recently, so it will be interesting to see how he copes.

But like you I have no problems with Maguire playing.

You guys are just clinical with the chances you have through the counterattack

The funniest thing about this narrative of United being on a great run and putting the pressure on is that United we’re only 5 points behind us 5 weeks ago, but are now 6 behind and that’s after they got to play us at home - keep up the good work lads

You have played 24 of a 38 game season.
Maybe it includes the FA Cup game with Nottingham Forest.

yes it is often.

And the ease to which we give the ball away in our half when in transition is also shocking. Which is why we it keeps coming back are we are under the cosh a lot.

Im not here to suck ETHs diq. Things HAVE to change now INEOS are on board and that also means the quality and style of play on the pitch which the manager has a lot to contruibute towards. INEOS isnt going to be the Head Coach. They can only make it easier for ETH and his coaching staff.

My optimism is dampened by the loss of a Martinez and the fact that teams are still carving out chances against us with ease.

Although Casemiro and Mainoo look to be our best partnership they still can not control the game if we are getting over run in midfield numerically.

I mean if Villa could finish then you could have lost that game handsomely yesterday, there was no tactical genius or incredible team performance going on there. Onana had a worldie, Watkins had a stinker and that was enough in the end - you won’t get away with that every week

The Champions League will take on a whole new look next season -- with more teams and a brand-new format.

Four more clubs will take part in the group stage, with 36 competing, and the two best-performing leagues in Europe this season will each get one extra place for 2024-25.

What are chances of the English Premier League getting one of those extra places? And how will that affect the rest of the division?

We break down how the Champions League will work from 2024-25 and why it's important this season.

Who gets the four extra UCL places?
2 places will go to the best performing leagues in Europe in this current season. The place goes to the next team in the league which has not automatically qualified. Last season, that would have been Liverpool and Atalanta. These places are most likely go to clubs from the top leagues.

1 place will go to the third-placed team in the league ranked fifth in the UEFA coefficient (this is effectively the average performance of all its clubs in Europe.) Last season that was France, so Marseille would have gone direct to the UCL group phase, with Stade Rennais promoted from the Europa League into UCL qualifying. However, the Netherlands overtook France into fifth at the start of this season, so the Eredivisie could get the extra place for the 2024-25 domestic season.

1 place will go to the qualifying path for champions. Four teams used to come through this route into the league phase, but from next season it will be five. The place cannot go to a team from the top 10 leagues as their champions do not go through qualifying.

https://www.espn.co.uk/football/story/_/id/38238696/champions-league-new-format-how-premier-league-gets-5-places

Probably not too likely after us and Newcastle getting knocked out already.
