"I actually think it will do some of you good too to see just how these problems can't all be pinned on Rashford."

Has anybody said this? Ever?

The Rashford cult is something else and would look for excuses to back him even if he dropped a doogie on the pitch and flung it at the fans, whatever is going on in his private life, he's been a disgrace on the pitch with terrible attitude. And its not the first time he's done this.

Had his purple patch last season but was a disgrace the year before, has more misses than hits, its been like this since 2019, one good season followed by a shocker, never seen a player so afraid of getting hurt on the pitch, backs out of every challenge.

Rashy looks broken compared to last season. I know he's had some rough times away from football this year with two family members sadly passing away. It must have effected him more than he's thought.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
So few people seem to know or understand this point.

It seems players have to behave like robots and perform, otherwise they should get moved on.

Rashers has surely earned some favour with us fans? Yes, he is hit and miss, but at least he's usually an exciting player...

If he wants to move on, then good luck... But if he wants to stay, maybe we should be offering him the benefit of the doubt and hoping a summer break clears his mind.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I wasn't aware he's lost family members, but if it is a grieving/ mental health issue, he probably shouldn't be starting every week.

This form did

Even in his stand out season, he scored 17 goals in 35 games, or a goal every 170 minutes. Stats dwarfed by players considered lesser calibre. I'm just not sure it's worth the baggage anymore.

This form didn't start this season, it's been 12 months now. *

Yea mate, you are literally getting yourself worked up over something you've just made up.

I really think it’s best for everyone if Rashford moves on somewhere else. Hes just lost whatever it was that made him special and he looks like he needs to wear a new shirt and get his mojo back. He’s been generally excellent for us more often than not since 2016 and thus deserves respect more than many other of our players since then.

Rashford really encapsulates the whole club. Capable of brilliance, but inconsistent, lazy, poor attitude, mentally flakey and massively overpaid.

stripping out penalties, entire premier league careers:

rashford - 114 goal contributions (g+a), one every 164 minutes

martial - 88 goal contributions, one every 150 minutes

he's a slightly fitter, and slightly sh!tter, version of martial, but people bend over backwards to defend him in a way that doesn't happen with other players.

To be fair, being available is a massive thing when you consider all the injury messes we’ve had over the years.

true, though our fans' views of our injured players are every bit as hypocritical and clueless as their views on the qualities of our players - jones was desperately unlucky, martial could be less injured if he just wanted it more, pogba was faking it, casemiro and shaw (overweight at the start of his season, and for the entirety of his united career, respectively) just unlucky etc etc.

rashford isn't the only united player to have lost a family member in the last decade, but oddly the united fans who all but bully other players are happy to defend rashford because his cousin died 6 months ago.

Yeah we have a lot of cuuuuunt fans, can’t disagree with you there.

Stripping away penalties? Why because they don't help your argument? Do we strip away Harry Kane and Haaland when talking about those?

Also Marital has played a lot more games as a central striker than Rashy has too so your argument you've created isn't even as good as you thought it was. 😂

He was afforded some hit and miss seasons due to his age but since he could no longer be judged as a youngster, his form has been average.

Lots of wingers have far better stats than Rashford, and also much better attributes outside of scoring goals.

A lot of our problems started when Maguire was stripped of the captaincy...

Some do for sure. He's definitely not among the very elite. His stats are far from embarrassing though for the so called most competitive elite league in the world.

Rashford can be a very effective player when used the right way. I'm not sure we are doing that anymore and it's quite evident too that he's got to do more himself as well. I do think a lot of his body language issues is probably down to off the field stuff. If you forget football for a second he doesn't look like a guy who isn't happy in life at all right now.

He's never been world class in my eyes but he's better than what we are currently seeing and better than his detractors say he is too.

Ironically I think he's looked a better player since we did though.

He's been nowhere near our worst player this season. Granted it's been a terrible season but he's not the reason for it.

Never been a huge admirer of him but have respected him more this season than ever before.

People deal with grief in very different ways... Amazed this even needs saying.

Also, the idea that you keep track on all the people that defend Rashers and "bully" other players is frankly laughable.

This place is so weird sometimes.

it's not especially difficult to do, there aren't many posters on here who defend the guy drinking in dublin by talking about a death in the family last year.

and no, the point about grief doesn't need saying, but then we're just into the realms of pure speculation, since no one on here really knows how rashford dealt with these things any more than they know how martial dealt with his marriage failing or mount has dealt with his first season at the club being derailed by injury.

but hey, if you think that illustrates the broad spectrum of the human condition more than it shows certain sections of our fanbase to be massive hypocrites, that's great.

posted on 24/4/24

No one who's mentioned his family member dying has said it is definitely the cause of his form.

You're perceived view of people going over the top in their support of him is equal to my perceived view of people see his name and getting themselves in a bit of a rage.

posted on 24/4/24

Ill make a prediction. If any United player is going to do something good in the Cup Final, like score, it will probably be Rashy (or Bruno)

posted on 24/4/24

What does Van Basten know about football? I rely on some of the posters here to issue more authoritative accounts on Rashford’s horror shows: a hidden injury, the death of a cousin, his inability to drink with his mates in Ireland without being reminded of his obligations towards the idiotic fans who pay his wages…. I refer Van Basten to the expertise of “Glazers Out” for a start.

Yea, no one should ever try to understand a player's drastic drop in form... It should always just be "he's crrrrapppp, sell himmm... wahhh wahhh"
