Man Utd consider De Ligt move

Reports would suggest that we’re actively and concurrently pursuing at least three players to fill the same squad berth, which is something we’ve very rarely seen from United in recent years and absolutely how we should be going about our transfer business.

Ive never rated that guy was shocked bayern went for him after he flopped at juve

United keep trying to pull this off but Everton know they'll be back and possibly even end up paying more than Everton's valuation. Trying to low ball a 43m offer

It's hard to know what to believe transfer-wise these days, but at least we seem to negotiating properly and not just paying out silly money.

If we really want a certain player, we may fork out a little bit more, but nothing crazy.

Regarding Branthwaite, I think we will go back - it wouldn't surprise me if we go to a deal for about 50-55 million (that's just the way it is with home-grown players) and if that doesn't work out, we see how the likes of De Ligt or Todibo etc develop.

There will always be over-hype around our transfer dealings, it would be nice if we get our deals done ASAP, although prob need to wait until Euros finish where applicable

Exactly the type of signing I’d hope we wouldn’t make after Ten Hag was allowed to stay.

Why are Bayern flogging him, only 24 and fairly cheap?

One thing that may inform the types of CB's we're going to be seriously looking at this summer will be aerial dominance.

Our three best headers of the ball are Varane, Casemiro and Maguire. Varane has already left, Casemiro is expected to leave and Maguire may also leave (Evans surely won't be expected to play anywhere near as much so I'm removing him from consideration here).

Branthwaite and De Ligt are both excellent in the air.

He’s sheeet and exactly the kind of flop United have been paying over the odds for over the past 10yrs so expect him to be signed after a long drawn out saga for around 60m.

The new “owners” haven’t shown anything different in the transfer market yet if RUMOURS are to be believed.

Anything over 45-50 is too much for braithwaite

We need a CB with more pace. Height at the back isn't as important as it once was in the PL as teams aren't knocking high balls into the area like they once did. However pace in behind is something most teams now have and De Ligt is a cart horse.

It's a no from me.

Depends how good the people who are reported to know their stuff believe he could be, and how long he could be that good for us.

We need at least 1 CB this window. Whilst I’m all for us paying less, ultimately, I’d rather us get the player / players we want,;than end the window without, but a few quid in the bank.

Can anyone name these alternative CBs that will cost less?

I agree about the pace bit but I do think aerial ability is important as a lot of the top teams do score from them and set pieces can be a game breaker.

Height is gonna be an issue that'll need addressing defensively and offensively if we lose two/three/even four? of Maguire, Casemiro, McT and Varane

De Ligt also isn't a sloth from what I've seen. He doesn't turn or accelerate quickly, but against your average striker, I wouldn't worry too much about him in a high line.

Arsenal at set pieces were a huge threat this year, gives you another outlet when you might not be playing great.

We have zero fckin threat.

Would prefer de ligt over braithwaite, but all depends on the cost. Need to keep money free for other positions

My comment was based on the fact we'd be keeping Maguire though. He can play in those type of games for me no problem.
