Sir Keir Starmer !

There’s no doubt here that Rayner has tried to pull a fast one with setting up the trust, but now she’s blaming someone’s making an error, bulllshitte!

She knew exactly what she was doing! She’s been found out and now she’s trying to get some sort of sympathy in the wake of it!

And this was Starmers views on tax evasion!

“Tax evasion involving dishonest fraud is not a sort of fraud, it is fraud. It is criminal and it should be treated as all other fraud is treated. In my view, criminal prosecution should be the default position for tax evasion and not civil penalties. So the default position needs to be changed. “It is very important to send a signal. This is about a culture and you only change a culture by using all the weapons at your disposal and a crown prosecution is a very powerful weapon. People go to prison for quite significant periods of time.”’

Meanwhile Rachel from accounts is probably chuffed to bits in the Rayner story breaking today with the feck up she’s making with the economy!

Where’s FOAR and Hector when you need them?

They're on another thread trying to defend her because she's allegedly working class.

Here he is again, can either Hec or FannyAnnie defend her after Starmer also said that?

Well apparently some seem to think she's being attacked because she's a ginger class working woman.

Not the deputy PM of the the UK who should be erring on the side of extreme caution when it comes to her tax affairs.

in fairness i think it is complicated by the fact that she is divorced, and the family home is in trust to her kids but that still does not get away from the fact that it is quite clearly a second home and quite clearly not her primary residence. IMO, it is more likely that an advisor would be telling her that she could make a saving by declaring it her primary home, as opposed to advising her that it actually is her primary residence.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I don't think primary residence comes into it for stamp duty, it's simply a case of whether your name is on the deeds of another home, even if it's not in the UK and you don't live there, it sill counts as a second home (I find that ridiculous that you can own a home in another Country and it still counts personally)

I'm guessing when she sold her interest in the home to the trust her name wasn't removed from the deeds. The timing of it was suspect.

Also upset that I come on here to get away from people talking about class, background, and hair colour, and getting personal about it, instead of actually discussing how she might have fallen foul of the tax system.

In fact having read what the rule was that she got caught out by I have more sympathy for her. It's about time this Government discussed HMRC's overly complicated rules of taxation.

Still think she's made an unrecoverable error though.

HMRCs rules exist in part to allow wealthy people to pay less tax, gonna be a big fight to get them sorted.

posted 5 days, 8 hours ago

Agreed.

I think they also in part exist to keep tax experts in pocket. The fact she has to go to an expert to determine whether she owns a house or not for the purpose of stamp duty is ridiculous.

Is she a Right Honourable by any chance ? just asking ,

not only that, she is described as the Labour "attack dog" on ethics and has been the one fronting the attack on Tory sleaze when in opposition....calling for heads left right and centre.

She may have to sell her second home if she gets demoted. No wonder she's hanging on with her false finger nails.

Her kids are minors so while its in trust to them, it aint theirs and will remain property of hers/her ex

Yeah this was the error, but it’s really quite a basic error to make.

I had a similar thing with my wife because her parents left her their home in advance of their death in a foreign Country. Rather than running the gauntlet with HMRC we just paid the extra stamp duty.

Big article on the bbc this morning practically laying out the road towards success for reform based on brexit voters.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cwy853rj2kzo

Which makes me wonder, should I bother to do a the same thing I did with brexit, argue why people shouldn't vote reform, only for the political leaders I want to win to play into their hands, and people on social media to insult those on the fence into voting for them?

Or should I just accept that history is doomed to repeat itself and plan accordingly?

Long way to go yet, but I just personally just can’t stand Farage.

I voted remain and in the last election voted Labour because I wanted some change but it just hasn’t happened. The worst of it though for me is how they’ve attacked businesses and really affected growth.
Jobs are down, projected growth is down, unemployment up, inflation up, and cost of living is up.

Just a shiiiiit show.
