Just been watching the Preston v Fulham shoot out, 16-15 !! Stoke and Fleetwood by contrast only managed to score 3 between them in their shoot out.

Just read that Preston shoot out. Is that a record?

Now we’ve got a decent sized squad I think it’s good to have games in this competition to give different players some games. But if Mosquera, Dawson and Toti aren’t available then we could he pretty weak defensively. Maybe something like;

Sa
Lima, Bueno, Pond, Doherty
Rodrigo, Doyle, Cundle
Darabia, Guedes, Hwang

Meupiyou was mentioned on the last match thread and I pointed out weeks ago that he had an injury according to Transfermrkt. Dawson and Mosquera are being rested and are not going to be risked with the weekend match coming up. We could revert to a back three with Semedo or Lima, Bueno and Doherty. If we did that it could give us a very strong 5 in midfield, leaving two up front. Maybe Hwang could prove his worth for once by scoring in this one.

Bentley has signed a new 3 year deal with a further 12 month option, so I would imagine he'd be between the sticks.

We might accidentally stumble across a defensive system that actually works. Only Everton have conceded more goals than our 11 in four matches.

With both teams likely to name much changed sides this one isn't easy to call. They're at home and are higher in confidence so will be favourites. Not expecting too much, just hope some of the fringe players put out a good performance.

Wolves being linked with the former Liverpool defender Joel Matip. He is now out of contract and therefore could be signed outside of the transfer window

Was he a free agent before Sept 1st? If not we can't do anything apparently

Matip would be a great player to bring in if we could keep him fit. His injury record at Anfield has been a real concern though.

Maybe sign him on a pay as you play deal.

Pond came in from Exeter as one for the future. Spent some time on loan at Stockport last season. Captain of our U21s

Why feckin Hwang and not Forbs ffs!!

Good sub bench for us tonight. If we’re still in the game with 20 minutes left that could be useful

Brighton field a much changed team too. Could go either way

Could be Forbs is in line to start on Saturday. Hwang has to prove himself today, otherwise he's going down in the pecking order.

Very surprised that Bentley, who signed a new 3 year contract isn't even on the bench. Good luck to Alfie Pond.
