Just a reminder we played the best team in Europe today and more than few of them had a whole week to prepare for today.

But lets ignore all the facts you state in your first line 🤦🏻‍♂️.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Just a reminder we’ve conceded l3 in our last 3 home games, Nottingham Forest have only conceded 19 all season.

It’s pathetic you’ve fallen for this charade - have said that, I have some magic beans I can sell you
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I've not fallen for anything. Yes, we are too attacking and it costs us every time we concede.

And to answer Biss' point about Ange getting leeway. We have sacked upteen managers with less than 18 months in charge and it'e gotten us no where. Do we really need another reset right now?

Plus, if Ange gets more players at his disposal then lets see where it takes us. Hence, three more windows for me. We need to fill out the squad with 22 decent players.

Either the way, the next manager will have something to work with. We still have the 3rd youngest squad in the league.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
There is a time when I would have agreed - we should have given Jose at least 1 more week, Conte should have been backed.

But as much as I want Levy out more than anything - Ange is failing mostly by himself - and saying stupid schitt like he won’t change or adapt is beyond faaaacking irritating, to me it’s every bit as bad as Conte’s rants by the end. Yes we’ve conceded 13 goals in our last 3 home games but I’m not going to change mate - WHY THE FAAAACK NOT?

----------------------------------------------------------------------
This is what im saying, his stubbornness almost deserves him to get sacked, regardless of the results. He doesn’t want to change because “this is what got him this far”, but thats like a youth team player in u9s who could run through the whole team and score, trying to do that at pro level. The guy is smoking crack

One last thing. I'm fully prepared for us to take a step back this season in the league, if it means we take two forward next season.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Should say in the hope we take two steps forward next season.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
How on earth are we going to take 2 forward next season?

Signings - you know Levy won’t buy who we need or the quantity.

Injuries - these are not bad luck, they are down to the intensity of the training and the way we play. Add in injury prone players like VDV and voila

Tactical innovation -

Younger players becoming more experienced - Gray is playing out of position still, Miles Moore is still losing game time to Timo faaacking Werner and Bergvall in my opinion is painfully average

So what will change/improve??

It’s pure ego - I won’t change mate, I’m right mate, this is who we are mate.

The arrogance is ridiculous, he talks like he is Fergie. He has done nothing and I mean nothing of standing in the game. Did well in the Australian league - most could name 3 Australian sides. Won the J league - but his actual record was very average, he didn’t build anything there. Then Celtic - I reckon Hodgson could win just as much in the same situation.

Needs binning off

it does seem absurd that a top level, former international manager has absolutely no interest in any kind of balance or game state adjustment.

the philosophy is fast attacking football sure, but within that you then have adaptations for game state. e.g. no need to have both full backs and the entire midfield flooding forward every single time regardless of quality of possession we have

He ain’t top level

Never was. Think of it this way, if Spurs sacked him tomorrow, where do you reckon his next job would be? No chance of an another Prem job, no chance of La Liga or Serie A. I would bet against the Budesliga. Maybe the Eredivisie with a second rate side but not PSV, Ajax or Feyenoord

Ange's post Liverpool match interview pretty much said.....

Your thoughts on the loss to Liverpool today?
Answer: It was a bridge too far for us and we were lacking a little bit of energy today and ability to compete with them at the same level…..

Today you were picked apart a bit because of the openings?
Answer: I’ve been very patient sitting up here and answering the same question over and over again. My approach ain’t going to change. I want to build the team and there are going to be challenges along the way.
The players are not wavering in their commitment to what we are trying to do, and they know there will be problems along the way….

What about two of the fans singing your name?
Answer: The fans should feel the way they need to about what was happening today…. It was a difficult day to be sure, but they still have to support the players, which is important…. And maybe some of them understand the situation we’re in right now….it seems many of them don’t, so….. we’re going through a difficult period and hopefully we’re get some of the key players back

Do you think you’ll get reinforcements in the January window?
Answer: yeah, if the right players are available to help us in the cup competitions we’re in…..

My feelings about this guy:
I feel sorry for Ange. He's on a mission to build a squad that plays football to his liking. He has one way he wants to play. He thinks he can succeed with that way. .He's pig headed. He wont change.

Basically he is making like difficult for himself. If he could make interim changes in his game philosophy to match the injuries he has ATM, and change back as things improve...I would tend to give him a chance.

But he's such a one tricky pony that that seems unlikely.
Spurs fans are just going to have to put up with it.

We're now 10th. Cup competitions upcoming. I beieve something will come good, or something will break, either the club, the dressing room , or Ange.
Welcome the New Year!.

Replace Ange with Bournemouth manager Iraola. He's at the moment the best Spanish coach in the PL.

posted on 23/12/24

The most nonsensical article of the year to say that injuries have paid no part in Spurs form being so up and down.

Any team, and I mean any team would not be winning many games with up to 10 injuries at the same time for a month or two, plus almost the best defence and goalie missing at the same time.

No wonder Ange gets fed up with the same nonsense fired at him every press conference, without not a mention of the circumstances.

Another flavour of the month manager. No thanks. Kneejerk. Once the injuries subside, the results will improve. It ain't rocket science.

Modern thinking. Change the manager every five minutes, over a few bad results. It's nonsense.

Either he isn't as intelligent as I had him down as and he truly believes injuries have made us defensively rubbish, or he's being disingenuous.

As you say, we've still been bad defensively with our first team players. We conceded 4 last season against Newcastle with VDV and Romero playing, and then 3 to Arsenal at home in the next game. Even so, we spent quite a bit on Dragusin so that he can fill in when required...is this not something of an admittance that he's been a waste of money by Ange? Besides, players like Romero and Udogie have often been poor defensively and cost us, now suddenly we're really missing them?

Just comes across like a poor excuse for bad form. The rate of losses running through the season whether with injured players out or not, paints a different picture.

Ange is fortunate it took for now for us to concede that many. Could have conceded the same amount against Bournemouth.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

When was the last time the first team defence conceeded six? And up to about three weeks ago, Spurs had the 3rd best defence in the division.

There is no hope for you if you cannot see injuries are severely holding Spurs back right now.

I think we should all look forward to Southgate as the interim manager. If he does well enough Levy will make him permanent manager.

posted on 23/12/24

i don't know if getting rid of Ange so soon is the right thing to do or not, seems like we're a poisoned chalice from a managerial perspective which has to down to the board after 20 odd years of failure and false dawns?

I've been saying previously, it's the excuse of ''look at all our injuries'', it's Romero, VDV and Vicario only, forget Richarlison, Odebert and Moore, they're either too young and only played a couple of games (Moore and Odebert) or not worthy of anything of note even when fit (Richarlison), we were not strong defensively what the three we're missing from our defence were fit? I find it patronising to use that as the reason we're where we are.

They're not bad players by any stretch, internationals all three of them, it's the way we're set up to play.

I'm sort of numb to it all, if he gets another season and three more windows then so be it, the embarrassment of seeing numerous possible mangers turn us down is a kick in the balls...but accepting this is also hard, I'm torn?

posted on 23/12/24

It's a bit of both tbf. I don't think there's a manager alive that gets us a win in that game with Dragusin and Gray as our centre backs with Forster in goal. That said, there's definitely an argument there's a few managers out there that would have us on a higher points total right now. Even just a couple of losses turned into wins and we're 5th place.

Given the state of the squad, both in terms of the injuries right now but the overall level even with everyone fit, I don't think it's fair to say Ange is awful and all the other sh!t being thrown at him. It's fine margins init. We've seen Mourinho and Conte with substandard squads (Dier and Sanchez CBs, Hojbjerg and Winks midfield) suffer similar or worse results trying not to lose. At the end of the day there's only so much a manager can do.

Sure everyone can have their opinion about how they want us to play, who the manager should pick, or whatever. But if we're really honest even a prime Alex Ferguson ain't dragging this lot to the top. So is it bad enough, really, that it's worth tearing it all up again and facing another season or two waiting for a project to develop that might never work only to lose patience with it after a season and a bit and start again?

And I think right now it's very hard to answer because the squad is thin, lacking real quality in key areas, and where we do have real quality they're injured.. so yeah you can make a case for sacking him anyway but you could certainly say he's been a bit hard done by. Even if you hate the bloke.

Liverpool were a class apart and there is no denying that.

But anyone who thinks that some key injuries and an inability to rest and rotate in a period in the season when we are 2 games a week, every week, for weeks on end, is.gping further than hoodwinking themselves, it's just plain stupidity.

Liverpool has an easy midweek tie and we're able to rest key players and you could see it in today's game. Their energy was at another level and we barely laid a glove on them in terms of our press. When we did we had some joy and forced opportunities.

I am notnsaying that all is great at Spurs, Slot had a better game plan to Ange but also they executed it better. Both teams went long at times and ours was aimless and theirs far more polished. For them it's a legacy of Klopp, for us it's an option we need to work on far more. When they hit it long, they had runners. For us it seemed almost unplanned, more reactionary.

On the injury excuse, surely part of the reason you have so many injuries in the first place is due to his play style?

Romero, VDV and Davies all have hamstring injuries don't they? Surely not a coincidence when you're asking your CBs to sprint all the time

Definitely.

We'll end up ruining VDV career at this rate....eventually he won't fully recover from these hamstring injuries.

The stupidity of some of our fans is on another level. For practically the whole of December Spurs have more or less had to put the same team on the pitch for every single game, in what is the busiest time of the year. Liverpool rested nearly all their first XI midweek, Spurs had to play them all, hence unchanged against yesterday, because they are down to the barebones.

But hey some of our supporters think injuries do not play a part in performances.

There is something in that. But what do do suggest our CBs just stand like statues when the oppositing forwards are running at them? It`s unfortunate, but you cannot just expect players to not put in sprints, it`s a major part of the modern game.

For me one of the issues is that Dragusin is a completely different style of defender to what Spurs need. It's clear you're missing VDV because his pace covered the flaws in the high risk defensive strategy. Dragusin seems a weird signing tbh

I think he is doing his best. But he is being asked to play with a back up goalie, reserve defenders, and an out of form regular in Porro. Cannot really blame him to much. In fact cannot blame any of the defence. They have been cobbled together with an unprecedented amount of injuries to the defence.
