The problem with this forum is that some fans think the only options are to keep a player who prevents United from improving or spending lots of money on a replacement.

In fact, that sums up the idiots running Man Utd quite well.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Even spending a comparatively meagre amount on a Maguire replacement will be incredibly difficult given the more pressing needs elsewhere in the squad that will require significant investment. We're going to see the backs of Evans, Lindelof and probably Shaw this summer (and getting virtually no money for any of them), and realistically we need 6 options in the squad for the 3 positions at the back. If we let Maguire go we'd only have Yoro (a kid), De Ligt, Martinez (who desperately needs to show some form), and Mazraoui. MDL & Maz also have some iffy injury records that we'd be banking on remaining at bay. In the absence of any standout CB's emerging from the academy, it's difficult to see where we'd be getting the funds to sign two new defenders (even cheap ones) as well as address LWB, RWB, LF, CF and CM.

Maguire is a good player - more than good enough as a squad option for us and given the above it makes sense to retain him for one more year.

This was the point I was making earlier.

Also consider the lack of depth in the full-back position. A couple of injuries and you're looking at Maz or heaven forbid having to cover which then leaves us short in CBs. It makes sense for now to have Maguire to make up 5.

Don’t agree at all.

He’s not just average, he’s actively causing the team to play in a different way.

It’s a major problem, if you watch how we move forward as a unit and how our wide players have to provide cover.

I’d rather play someone worse than Maguire but with a skill set more suited to this system tbh.

*heaven forbid Martinez having to cover.

Maguire is a great option to have. Ability wise, he's a UCL standard CB.

You’ve probably not noticed ss you’re all over the place but you talk about me FAR too much.

I get that you’ve been repeatedly embarrassed and so understand that I drove you to the point that you threatened to call the police and I also understand that it was me that led to to complain to admin numerous times but I really do feel you’re just humiliating yourself further these days.

Just calm down.

Look, I know you don’t ‘get’ certain things, which is why myself and a few other posters take it easier on you these days (plus it makes admin happy), but you really are just embarrassing yourself as usual.

I’ll leave you to it.

I don't know about top cb, let us relax here.

Competent at times, yes.

It’s funny that you came here to troll and now you’re an angry mess.

What’s happened here is I intentionally used your own words against you and you didn’t even notice.

I actually saw you call someone obnoxious the other day.

Your lack of self awareness is staggering.

Ridiculous. The club have learned nothing.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He's a very very underrated CB. Gets in the City team for a start. Probably Chelsea too.

No he doesn’t. Is your mental disability why your dad sells Avon?
