Well that's frustrating after doing all the hard work, but this pitch definitely looks like it's going to spin.
Batting first hopefully gives us a huge advantage now

I don't exactly miss it, but it is something they need to do. Bazball has been incredibly successful as the win percentages show, but there are tests they perhaps could have won or drawn if they dug in a bit more. I want them to keep the style of play, but adapt it when conditions or situations arise.

It’s nice to see the bowlers stopping them scoring and showing the Batriarchy can’t have it their own way all the time.

Congratulations. Probably made your day.
Feel odd and almost wrong having a sub fielder as keeper.
Definitely a pitch prepared for the Indians by the Indians probably, we are so stupid

which batters did Australia use at 6 when Gilchrist was at 7?

Didn't Gilchrist bat 6 under Waugh
And then it would've been Clarke and Katich when Gilchrist dropped to 7 under Ponting probably

71 of Gilchrist's innings were at 7.
Only 13 were at 6.
I reckon Damien Martyn was probably at 6.
Langer, Hayden, Ponting, M. Waugh S. Waugh, Martyn, Gilchrist.

Fair dos
I'll admit I'm a latecomer to cricket - one of the 2005 Ashes crowd
He was definitely behind Katich in that series
Were Mark Taylor and Steve Waugh both nicknamed tugga?
For his last 8 tests he was behind Symonds, but other than that was always behind a specialist top order bat.
248 82 overs
looks like the scoreboard's broken.
It's not a steve waugh situation in the slightest
a) everyone knew waugh was up for the chop
b) the tension about his 100 had been building building building for at least an hour.

it's one of the all time greatest cricketing moments.
Decent day in the end, nice to see England play some proper Test cricket. Joe Root really is a magnificent player.
Really good day for England that. Pitch isnt the easiest to bat on. Its been slow and difficult to time and there has been movement and spin.
I reckon 320-350 is probably par. If they manage to get to 400 plus, then they are ahead in the game. Still finely balanced at the moment as a few quick wickets early tomorrow would bring India back into it. Important session with the new ball to start tomorrow.
As an aside. Now they have floodlights at every ground, I think they should have to keep playing until they reach the alloted overs for the day. We lose overs every day of every test match.
