Ange openly admitted that he prioritised the Europa and he was proved right to do so.

Had we played our top boys in the Prem (when they weren't injured) we would have got a few more points but we would have got nowhere near winning the Europa.

Judging by the end of the trophy drought, CL qualification and the 150k who turned out yesterday I would say his bravery was rewarded and he deserves another season to build on that.

I’m not 100% sold on Ange staying but do think Levy will find it impossible to sack him now. Ange may decide to walk but after yesterday’s speech can’t see that either.

If he stays he cannot play the suicidal football we played for most of this season. If he does he will be gone by Nov/Dec regardless.

Not ashamed to admit this, but I'm one of the fickle ones who has changed their mind.

I was didn't Ange out. But this trophy winning experience has changed me. I took my boy to the parade yesterday and he will never forget it. The league form has been appalling, but it was worth it all for that. We won a trophy and it's the best feeling we can have. Football is about winning trophies. He did it!

Give him til Xmas and see where we are. Sacking him after winning a trophy wouldn't go down well for me.

What is the point of having a mind if you can't change it. Just because I don't agree with you, doesn't make me right.

Also, I don't want to sack a manager after 10 games as that is a whole season and transfer season wasted.

If you are a chairman and you think 'lets give him 10 games' you should bin him as the decision has already been made subconsciously.

I would say it was not just 90 minutes.

All the KO rounds displayed controlled, tactically appropriate football. We navigated the ko rounds without much fuss and not in a way that we play in the league. So it was impressive and bucks the "no plan b" criticism

I would have preferred to see a return to form In the league as well, as key players returned. We didn't because the focus was almost entirely on the cup.

But what the cup did show is that we have the quality and the nous to change up our game just to get a result.

That is something most fans didn't think we had.

It remains to be seen whether we can blend our main style with that more pragmatic approach. I am a big believer that teams develop this sort of knowledge over time, now we should be able to switch from front foot to back foot and manage games. We've done both, we must now have belief that we have both in our locker and I think the whole experience of winning this cup will lift our players ability, their understanding and their output.

The bigger question is whether Ange will and that we do not know. But we do know he can set up a team to attack and one to defend. He's proven that. Can and will he blend it ? I don't think anyone can answer that yet.

No one is saying he's the messiah. No one is really judging on 1 game. And very few are certain he will continue to improve us, but there is a body of evidence there to suggest he can.

There is some wiggle room in my head regarding Ange purely because he’s won us a major European Trophy, the lads love him and he’s shown a willingness to adapt tactically in the Europa League. I’ve just said on another thread that we can’t tell what the right decision will be but sacking him after what he’s just pulled off is going to make us look really daft, however justified it might appear. The way the squad are with him, I’m not sure any incoming manager replacement will receive anything other than a frosty reception.

Saying that, I do believe we’ll see the same frailties emerge again next year should he stay. It’s just we can’t sack a manager that’s won us the biggest trophy since 1984.

Also have to remember there are people within the club who weren’t on board with Ange’s decision to throw the league in January, so let’s see if that comes into play.

Ange strikes me as quite a petty person who likes to hold a grudge.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He didn’t throw anything. He simply lost those games because he isn’t good enough. That throwing nonsense is just a smoke screen.

Also, the list of available candidates doesn’t exactly excite.

Levy has kind of backed himself into a corner.
He didnt fire Ange and let him win the Europa and get CL qualification. Levy will take credit for this.
Now the optics will not be great if he fires the manager who has won the club its first trophy in decades. Levy probably gives Ange a few games in the new season to see if if he should still be fired.

I haven't changed my mind. Only an idiot would want Ange sacked after giving lots of Spurs newer fans the best few days of their lives since Wednesday, supporting Spurs.

I think most realise that the manager would still be under pressure to turn the terrible league form around, so if Levy sacked him for a poor start, we'd understand.

From what I'm told Ange isn't pally with the players, but you can see that they've trusted him.

I thought Ange was on his way out but after the win let's see how things pan out.

It was nice to see him stand his ground against the many having a pop at him and loved seeing him with that big smile on his face.

Season 3 ?

I think that as things stand, he really has to be given a shot next season, with some stipulations as to what is minimum acceptable league performance.

I’m not confident he will be here at Christmas, but maybe this is the start of something <dunno>

A Super cup win would go some way towards convincing people

Neither was Brian Clough. He was quite a spikey character, particularly with players, but they would run through brick walls for him. You don’t need to be pally.

Pro: Europa league win - he stays
Con: 17th place finish in the Premiership. - he goes
Problem: if he stays and starts off losing again.....its much harder for Levy to go out and find a top class manager to replace him than if Lvy replaces him now.
You choose!

Does last season's 17th place finish mean the newer fans will be led thru the fire of a relegation battle next season? They would quickly get to experience the worst days of their lives.
You wouldn't want that!

Levy has a lot of work to do before next season. The squad needs a complete re-build.
Doubtless Levy will wait util the final day to make his moves.

I knew Ange would get overrated based on the Europa win. Just yesterday I was arguing with a couple of people who called what he did a "miracle" and "the impossible".

Son is well into his 30's. Richarlisson is not very good.
Romero is on his way to Real Madrid. Vicario can't control his area..... what more do you want?
We lost to B&H in our final appearance of the season.
With the likes of Ben Davies fillin gin.

From the B&H match report.........

This defeat was a sobering reminder of the problems that persist at Tottenham.

Postecoglou will argue that he has met his pre-season requirements by winning a trophy and qualifying for the Champions League.

The build-up to the Europa League final was dominated by talk of the Australian getting the sack if Spurs lost - perhaps even before today's match against Brighton.

That did not happen and at Spurs' Europa League trophy parade, Postecoglou said: "All the best TV series, season three is better than season two."

It was interpreted as a suggestion that the Australian had been told that he would be at the club next season, but he was quick to play down those claims before this match, acknowledging that "sometimes they kill off the main character".

It is now over to chairman Daniel Levy to decide how much the club's Europa League success can mask such a disastrous league campaign.

Levy is yet to give any indication to Postecoglou over his future, but clarification is expected in the next 48 hours.
