Garnacho gone?

Let me just get this straight, people are advocating for sacking this manager and proceeding with a player with clear attitude problems.

As long as we stick with the manager, he decides who stays or goes. If he wants nacho shipped, ship this player. What a sad place we are as united fans we don’t believe there is a player out there for our bloody scouts to get who can produce more than Nacho.

To those advocating keeping Garnacho (setting aside Amorim's position for now)... He was dropped earlier this season for his efforts in training. There was seemingly credible evidence that his brother was leaking the teams and both Garnacho and his brother (I accept the latter is less relevant here) came out with stupid statements publicly after the final. Garnacho also has a history of "liking" things on social media that appear to publicly express positions best kept in-house.

He's clearly immature and refuses to learn these lessons (and they're not exactly difficult lessons to learn). And it's not as if he's justifying these attitudes issues on the pitch, either.

So whether you like Amorim or not or whether he goes onto be a be a really good player in the future, the club have to take a position on his present indiscretions. He's hardly doing himself any favours and risks becoming an ongoing distraction under any manager going forward.

Do we really want players with this sort of attitude at the club? We agreed the answer was 'no' when it came to Sancho, for eg...

They buy players like Ugarte, Dorgu and Zirkzee. Even De Ligt hasn't been that good.

I'd say only Mazraoui and Yoro have been good acquisitions. Haven't included Heaven as he's a kid from an academy and it's too early to know with him.

We are being linked with some pretty underwhelming players too. Not convinced Delap is going to fare much better than Hojlund myself. Marginally perhaps but don't see him being prolific.

In summary.....we are absolutely woeful at picking new signings. Our track record is among the worst of all the big clubs in Europe.

Ugarte has had a poor end to the season but had been otherwise decent for most of it. Zirkzee had started to look like he'd gotten used to the pace of the PL and was impacting games more and more until his injury. Dorgu is a kid signed mid-season.

De Ligt has been good enough and at the very least is an excellent player to have in the squad.

I don't think there's much wrong with these players on paper, but what they all have in common is that this is their first season in the PL. We've traditionally done well by picking up the best PL players from clubs below us, supplementing it with talented academy players and astute signings from abroad. We've got plenty of young talents in the squad (Yoro, Heaven, Dorgu, Mainoo, Garnacho, Amad, Obi, Rasmus), but we're massively over reliant on them at present. What we completely lack is proven PL pedigree that makes up the core of the first team. Given the links to Cunha, Mbuemo, Semenyo and Delap (the latter looks really very good), it seems the recruitment team realise this, too.

I disagree with this. I ask no fan of Ineos however I do believe last summer is one of our best in recent times.

They too should be afforded this summer to see what they can bring. And even that, we are in a financial mess only so much they can do. Personally I would breach PSR.

BBC are reporting this story also. Looks like it's true. Can't see any way he doesn't leave now. It appears that Amorim is staying if he has the power to tell Nacho he's leaving. Torn on this one but the manager has to have authority
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Indeed, but is there a question on if he’s failed to keep nacho on line?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He can only do so much. He did drop him back in December, which seemed to bring him back in line

Best summer and then finish 16th / 17th makes no sense to me.

It wasn't a good summer at all. We needed goals and the only forward player we signed has scored 3 PL goals all season.

We also didn't add a competent back up GK to be able to replace Onana with.

It was a terrible summer.

posted on 24/5/25

If you want to think short term then yes.

We have a gem in Yoro
Maz was a good signing
Ugarte has not been bad
Zirzzhee is not as terrible as rasmus.

The chicken came home to roost this season.

Totally disagree. You're going through those new signings with rose tinted glasses.

Zirkzee has 3 PL goals in over 30 PL apps. That's woeful. City signed a striker in January who has scored over double that.

Our fans love to overrated new signings though. It's a terrible trait.

Mazraoui and Yoro are the only ones to me that look like good business. The others I think have been poor.

-------------

Please explain what I've said that is 'rose tinted'? The entire thrust of what I've written is that we've relied on bringing in players from outside the PL, rather than using them to supplement a team full of PL proven pedigree.

The players we've brought in are not in and of themselves bad players. But bringing in lots of imports from Europe + several young players is not a transfer strategy that is likely to have instant impact. Most of these players need time to adapt to life in England and the pace of the PL. Each player we've brought in (transfer/academy) has shown hints and glimpses of what they can do but they're suffering from being thrown in at the deep end before they're ready.

And let's not forget that even in our pomp under Fergie, we signed plenty of duds. But it didn't ultimately matter because the core of the team and the squad was more than good enough to compensate and ride out any poorer signings. We don't have that luxury now and it puts a hell of a lot of pressure on players coming in to hit the ground running despite never having played in the PL before.

This. Anyone who is saying we should keep Garnacho (and sack the manager in order to do so) had better not moan about the culture / toxic dressing room / player power over the next decade.

Ruben needs to fack off ASAP tbh, extremely poor
manager.
Happy to keep him on though, because this club is doomed and now provides entertainment, albeit entertainment in the wrong way.

But I always back the manager, player power can't win.

I am in full agreement.

I am with you on this 52. I don’t give a damn if he goes to Italy and starts ripping it up.

It is funny, no one is talking about attitude problems like they did with pogba. His brother went online bollocking the manager. He went out there questioning his minutes.

When pogba and Lingard do these things, I am told attitude problems.

Now, we should keep Nahco.

I wonder white.

I think he’s a talent who is currently struggling to develop into whatever potential he possibly has. I also think he doesn’t quite fit into the current managers system and that he causes issues with his professionalism. Because of that I’m happy to move him on if we can get a fee of around £50-60m.

Losing a youth players is always sad but a kid who we basically bought from another youth team who has no real connection to the club/area and that we have only done part of their development doesn’t hurt as much.

We had Ronaldo who came and scored goals and the the wizards on here said he doesn’t work hard enough all he does is score goals and so we ended up up with Rasmus who works hard.

Lingard
Pogba
Sancho
Rashford

Nope. Not at all.

Comes out mouthing off through his brother. As a matter of fact, he himself went on television to question the managers decision. I do wonder the outcry had any of those done something similar.

They are attacked for wearing chains for Christ sake.

Carry on being obtuse you imbecile.

We must have more 'attitude' problems than any other club. At some point I think we might need to consider the fact we just don't have the right people at board level and possibly managerial level to deal with them.

Or are we just really unlucky and get loads of w*****ks join us?

So many players go elsewhere and have no issues whatsoever.

Garnacho was kicked out --- not gone by choice?

Slight slant but the title hides a discord in Utd camp between the manager and certain players.
