Still don't think many other sides would have dropped to 17th, Dev. Brighton, in terms of minutes, had more players out than we did - they finished 8th.

Also, how do you account for the fact we've been inconsistent, at best, since November 2023? This form goes back way longer than this season's injuries.

Most people are generally Ange in given the circumstances now but let's not pretend this is an agenda. Were it not for a one off game against a very poor United side, he'd be long gone, and justifiably so.

He deserves time but my hunch is that this will go exactly the same way as Ten Hag and we'll eventually realise that we all knew it all along but emotion clouds judgement.

injuries are part and parcel of the game and with the extra scrutiny from sports science it will prob get worse. every team needs to deal with injuries. its a common excuse used by those who have failed.

my team for eg had to play games with no CBS available for many games, playing with 2RBs, a LB and a CM as a defence. at the end of the season no one is saying cut them slack they had injuries. Nope you dela with them like every club.

I'd like to know his win ratio of premier league games if you include his first season as well.

Every man and his dog knows in his first season he got off to a cracking start, can't remember exactly the stats but it was something like 8 wins in the first 10 games and no defeats and then the form tailed off (injuries again took their toll I remember even without any European football) and we all know they managed to finish 5th.

Giving him the 10 games isn't going to end well unless there's a determination to depart from the one size fits all approach. I think he's learnt this season that he has to be more defensive in premier league games if he wants to have more success. I don't know if he's going to do that though.

I do agree, but I would also say that the focus from about March onwards, when we had players coming back was very much on Europa.

I didnt like the fact that we made so many changes in the league and protected the likes of VDV and Romero, barely playing them through April & May, but that was the plan and it probably helped us secure the trophy....or at least meant that our first choice defence was available for the final.

Whats that stat - Vicario, Porro, Cuti, VDV & Udogie played 16 times together, Won 11, Lost 3, Drawn 2. It illustrates what we were missing for so long this season. There will be injuries and we need to make sure the back up is capable but i would suggest every team would struggle if their back line routinely missed 4 of their first choice.

I think if we had to battel against relegation or were in a position to chase for top 6 or 4, then the line up and the focus and the desire in the league would have been very different. How good, who knows? We clearly clocked-off in the league, adding to the awful loss column.

Ange @ SPurs:

P101 W47 D15 L39 - Win ratio of 46.5%. Loss ratio 38%

By comparison: Poch

P293 W159 D62 L72. Win ratio 54.3%. Loss ratio 25%

The bigger difference is the amount of losses. Ange losses twice as many as he draws and more than 1 every 3 games. Poch lost one in 4, but drew about twice as many proportionally, meaning we were harder to beat even if not winning.

Ange's win ratio is higher than I expected

How many of those Brighton players were nailed on starters though? I doubt it was anywhere near the six or seven Spurs had for three or four months all at the same time. Also Brighton did not have to negotiate 15 extra matches of the Europa League. Simply not comparable.

You could say the same about Spurs though. They finished their lowest since the mid 1970s. Although there were massive mitigating circumstances surrounding the Prem results. Expect normal service to be resumed next year, in or around the top four, in what is probably the most average Prem for decades.

An average Prem that we only managed to finish 17th in.,

I totally get the injury thing but we can't be relying on 11 players only. There will always be injuries. Ange needs to learn to manage that better and the club needs to give him better resources.

I don't think its ever been a case on relying on just 11 players. We had Vic Udogie VDV and Romero all missing at once, and for many weeks, Bentancur missed 10 games through suspension and then freak injury, Davies was playing then then got injured. Solanke missed weeks, including all the key cup games, so did Maddison & BJ, added to perma-injured Richarlison & Odobert

ANd all of this happened when playing 2 games a week for about 10 weeks.

The club can announce "sorry for the previous announcement, Doris in editing was on work experience and has subsequently been banned from Tottenham as in has come to light she was an Arsenal fan. Ange Postecoglou has certainly been reinstated. Apologies for the confusion"

Spot on. I don't think injuries are anything new. But getting so many to key players all at the same time is unprecedented. Certainly the worse in my near on 70 years following Spurs. It cannot be ignored as, well all teams get injuries. No all teams were missing their first choice goalie and three of their four first choice back four for three months. It was without doubt the biggest injury crisis in Spurs history. Hence the lowly Prem finish.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
But by speaking to him we've made it clear we don't really want Ange so he should be sacked regardless of how other managers we're talking to are reacting?

It's not a great look for the club to hang on to a manager with a sort of half hearted approval, whose position we're talking to other managers about. It's not an honourable way to treat Ange and it's a poor way of showing ambition and leadership.
