Sacking Mourinho before a cup final and then sacking a manager after winning a trophy after 17 years, this chairman is something else

This could be close to the end for me

It was inevitable trophy or not our league form was simply appalling

Feeling the same way Sandy. Absolutely awful decision making by Levy yet again.

posted 1 week, 6 days ago

I dont see how anybody is disagreeing with the decision.

Does the winning of a trophy in what was a relatively weak competition really replace all the lows of losing to the likes of Ipswich and Leicester at home?

Have you forgotten how we rolled over for pool in the cup semi final? Do you honestly accept winning 11 games out of 38 last season in the prem last season? He won 31 prem games out of 76 for gods sake thats an appalling return.

I think he deserved a stay of execution but that's it. Maybe 10 more games to see if he can turn it around.

The truth is Sandy that we were probably one VDV miraculous clearance away from losing that final and Ange would have overseen the worst league finish ever in the PL era for a Spurs side. I can see why you'd want one game to define his tenure but you just can't, particularly if you consider how abject we were in it. A measure of his progress has to be drawn from when he started and the truth is that since November 2023 we've been a a seriously slippery slope. Like I say, I'd have given him a little more time as a reward for winning but I certainly wouldn't hold Levy to account for sacking him either. Redknapp finished 4th and still got sacked. We're 17th. You can't just let that go, and yes, even with the injuries and the focus on Europe. It all matters. The fact remains that this squad, injuries or not, should be finishing higher than that.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Ange delivered CL and a trophy. That is the only stat that matters. Everything else is irrelevant.

The feel good factor has collapsed with this decision.

Almost as bad decision as sacking Martin Jol

Oh shut up Grandspur. You have been moaning about wanting trophies for years. Then when he delivers, toxic fans like you want him out.

How long before you want the next manager gone?

The new manager will now have to finish top five minimum first season. Then top the Europa win 2nd season. That will mean either lifting the Prem or CL. That's the bar Ange has set.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
As we know, Ange set a very low bar in the league, so as long as there is a big improvement on that I'll be ok with it in the first season. Any cup success would be a bonus but not really essential. Ideally we go on a good cup run or 2.

Second season is where I'd start hoping for cup success and top 4 challenges.

I just want to see the club head in the right direction again.

Levy surely has to have a replacement ready and booted to step in instantly starting Monday, this is not a Spur of the moment decision he has had plenty of time to analyse, awaiting in anticipation

n a statement, he said: "When I reflect on my time as Manager of Tottenham Hotspur my overriding emotion is one of pride.

"The opportunity to lead one of England's historic football clubs and bring back the glory it deserves will live with me for a lifetime. Sharing that experience with all those who truly love this club and seeing the impact it had on them is something I will never forget.

.

"That night in Bilbao was the culmination of two years of hard work, dedication and unwavering belief in a dream. There were many challenges to overcome and plenty of noise that comes with trying to accomplish what many said was not possible.

"We have also laid foundations that mean this club should not have to wait 7 more years for their next success. I have enormous faith in this group of players and know there is much more potential and growth in them.

"I sincerely want to thank those who are the lifeblood of the club, the supporters. I know there were some difficult times but I always felt that they wanted me to succeed and that gave me all the motivation I needed to push on.

"It's important to acknowledge the hard working people at Spurs who gave me encouragement on a daily basis.

"And finally, I want to thank those who were with me every day for the last two years. A fantastic group of young men who are now legends of this football club and the brilliant coaches who never once doubted we could do something special.

"We are forever connected. Audere est Facere."

Thanks for the memories, Ange and good luck in your next job.

Not really. He got us from 8th to 5th without the added games from Europe. That's only a positional difference of 3 so for the new manager to replicate that they'd have to finish 14th.

I'm being facetious since this team should be way higher than 14th anyway. You can see my point though?

My only comment as just seen the news. The stats don't lie. All those managers in such few years. Sackings for success. I hope Frank and everyone else tells you to fck off and you get relegated. Tin pot behaviour by clueless non-football people. Heartened by so much fan support for Ange. He will be laughing tonight and he really did mean don't worry about him. It's like chucking the wild bird that gave you amazing secks for a 2up 2down 2kids life of maybe getting a Euro spot.

Enjoy.

Nah if he doesn't get CL then he will be gone in 12 months.
