Primed for a takeover. One that can quickly propel them into the next tier but because it's ready made for a takeover, Spurs current owners want a premium price which is putting off anyone who would like to takeover.
In holding pattern of investment from the current owners just enough to keep them a highly sought after takeover opportunity but not enough to kick on and too expensive to actually takeover for all but gulf states.

Also when trading, leverage your inside info of current players attitude and mentality and their agent's ambition. Play them in their game they are playing. Be more ambitious with the very best talent in the academy. Offering them good deals at the right time long enough to see them get past the development stage to find the ones that really can make it. Pinch the very best talent from other clubs that haven't or can't be as smart as you with contracts. Don't turn the nose up at lower leagues or unfashionable countries but dig for the fundamentals.

I am going to ask a seriously genuine question here, and please do not all wolf pack hunt me down over this.
But where do you realistically expect Spurs to be ?
The Spurs fanbase needs to be honest with itself. There are at least 5 clubs that are always going to have more at their disposal than Spurs.
Man City
Man Utd
Arsenal
Chelsea
Liverpool
They will have a lot more to work with, because they are massive world wide. LFC and Man Utd are in a different stratosphere to everyone else.
Spurs for me are a 6th place team, or fighting it out for 6th place with Villa, Newcastle and teams of that caliber.
Yes Sours can finish 4th and win cups, of course you can, but that will be an almighty achievement given what you are up against. Unfortunately Spurs are in the next tier down, a very good club, and quite a big club on the world stage, but there are a handful of clubs in the premier league that have much more resources.
Unfortunately, if Spurs have a gem of a player, other clubs will start circling, that's just how the food chain is.
Now I know I am going to get pelters from some of the Spurs fanbase on here, but these fans who will bite back need to be realistic.
Your club is better than 17th though, but on the other hand you did go and win a cup, I have the feeling it is one or another for you, I am old enough to always remember Spurs going on good cup runs, but not pulling up trees in the league.
I am not saying that this should be your place though, but the certain factions of the fanbase needs to be a little less toxic and perhaps not hound managers out. You have had about 11 managers in the past 10 years in one role or another, this is not a sign of a club who wants to be duking it out with the best every year.
Well that is my take on it, feel free to disagree.

There's the hope that now that Frank is in he'll be able to get more out of a squad that still cost a fair bit of money to assemble, and I'm excited to see how he's going to do. We still need new signings though and I guess part of his negotiations with Spurs will be based around what business we'll do. He's not an idiot.
Would help if we could just get him through the door already as we've been close to announcing Frank for what has seemed a week now.

It's a fair comment to be honest and thats kinda how I see it...
The only thing to factor in is man city who arguable have a smaller global fan base than ours, but due to a change of ownership, investment and ambition. They actually apart from occasional outlier spend similar fees on players in terms of a ceiling. There is jack Grealish which was an exception.
Their fan base is smaller (or was prior to take over), they have the same size stadium. They will however break the bank for success. Their top earners are on 3 times the max wage ours are on.
It goes back to an article further up, we are in a holding pattern of waiting for a new owner but knowing we are over priced.
I was kinda hopefully wed win something last year. Unless Frank works miracles we will crash out the champions league and be nowhere near in the league. Europa league is out level currently - honestly. League and fa cup will be our best bets next year.

I'm sure some fans will get on his back. Some of the Ange cultists who wanted him to stay and think he's the GOAT since he won a Europa and who didn't want Frank to replace, could quickly lose patience.
I would hope the more sensible fans among us will realise he'd still need time.
Most of the flack would be aimed at Levy anyway though, whether we were Ange fans or not, especially if Frank isn't properly supported in the summer.

Spending untold amounts of money doesn't guarantee success. To many average players going for £100 million plus. Most of Spurs most expensive players have been flops. Some of the best players in the Prem were purchased relatively cheapish. Just need to scout properly.

Luckily for us the size of the club doesn't always match the levels of performance from that club. Case in point is ourselves and Man United last season. Liverpool had their time before Klopp when they were struggling outside the top 4, Arsenal too more recently.
Most clubs no matter what their size go through lulls so really we shouldn't have to fear what other clubs will do, with the possible exception of City, who have turned the league rather one sided for the best part of the last decade.
For us it's about getting back to the levels we had under Poch and trying to achieve more than he did with it. That will involve getting in a good manager who might have to punch above his weight at first to get us there and from that point try and build on it to retain that standard with good recruitment, something we didn't do enough of last time.

How many different managers have Chelsea had in that time?
Levy has wet the bed too often and that has led to us going through too many managers and quite probably us not winning as much over the ENIC years.
Obviously he is another hurdle in all this. If he doesn't change his ways or is changed for someone who can do what he doesn't then we ultimately won't get that far.
Spurs fans don't like Levy and I'm one of them but I will concede that in some areas recently he has been better.

As we enter into another post-season, I can't help look around at the business other clubs are doing and the calibre of players they are recruiting. My overwhelming thought in terms of Spurs at the moment is, what's the point in the premier league ?
We just aren't looking at signing the quality of players we need, just look at City and Liverpool's business, with Wirtz (£120mil), Cherki, Reijnders for City, Zubermendi etc at Arsenal. Just feels like the same old circles we and football in general are going around in.

Issue here is you shouldn’t be comparing yourselves to these clubs.

It's not obvious what Spurs want to be both on and off the pitch. The inconsistent management appointments are a symptom. All very well saying Frank can bring expertise in data based recruitment - he can't, you need specialist guys that are part of such a club culture. Frank is just a manager that understands it, buys into it, knows the constraints and works within it. You don't change that culture with a a few hires and more video suites. You change it by living and breathing it, placing it's regular review as one of the higher priorities even outside of windows and having the whole club's attention. You have a budget and delegated authority to act promptly accordingly to the regular reviews and decisions. If there are dissenters you need to weed them out. If that comes from the top then you are wasting your time. Same with managers - defensive or attacking it just comes across like the top don't care and are just spinning the knife and crossing fingers.
The events at the stadium - rather than provide additional funds to support the first team it is clear that the football stadium is sat there doing nothing 6 days a week, how do we sweat that asset to pay debt off earlier and enrich the owners. That culture has consequences. TBF Wenger suffered from that too.
Most clubs have a DNA & values. It can change but that's a slow process. It needs written down and acted on or it's a waste of time and demoralisation sets in.

I have no idea what spurs stand for anymore. We finally won something and now we start again.
If this is as far as Enic and Daniel levy will take us, I wish they would sell. They’ve made enough money, it’s boring just trying to be fourth every year.
To dare is to do should be scraped off every part of the club until levy leaves.

I just hope for him, that your fanbase do not get on his back if results are not going your way.
Levy seems to bay to the mob, and he ends up sacking managers to keep the fans happy.

The landscape is different now. We are turning over more money and making more profit.
We should be up there challenging for titles. Not yet but our time will hopefully come.
