Levy & ENIC have always had (and still do have) the wrong mentality, theirs is a business mentality over a sporting mentality.
Unfortunately, this mentality has filtered down into a large section of our fan base, so much so that these fans now preach what ENIC sow to be the norm.
Younger fans have had nothing to celebrate, hence they don`t know any different and just accept what Levy wants this football club to be.
Ange was slowly starting to change that mentality, with prickly dealings with the disrespectful media, daring to prioritize a cup win over the league and calling for a transfer window where we sign ready made players over unready kids etc etc.
This is probably part of the reason why Ange has been sacked, he dared to raise expectations and ambitions in the face of Levy constantly dampening and playing everything down (said things cost money which Levy does not want to spend).

Sad state of affairs when as you have said there are now fans who have been blindsided by ENIC and are now parroting the lines fed to them.
We have a weak fanbase.
Daniel Levy is a nobody who has made his fortune and his name by association with THFC. He is only using THFC to benefit his and his families bank balance, shamelessly pricing out potential new owners with ridiculous demands (many, many people itk have confirmed this).
How this man has got away with it for over 20 years beggars belief.
