Well that may be ideal for the C/L clubs 4/5.
But the rest of the pyramid might not wish to loose the income and competition?
To be fair, Chelsea have a lot of fixtures to fulfil, and it's not like they have a lot of footballers on their books.

Our owners seem to really like the extra games as do a lot of the other club owners i imagine, its the players of all clubs and the union that dont
If the Players' Unions were serious about fixtures congestion they'd be suggesting a maximum number of games/minutes a player can play each season.
IMO they won't because then that could lead to the clubs stating they'd reduce the salary of the players.
No
Top clubs - chance to blood youngsters, give squad players minutes
Rest of PL - chance of a run to the final as well as blooding youngsters and squad players.
Lower leagues - chance for a money spinning tie against a PL club.
Fans of many PL clubs - a chance for many who don't normally get the opportunity to see their team for a cheap price.
There could be some improvements to it but don't think it should be got rid of.

Thats an interview view on it, i guess the argument against is every player is different and even by position there is more physical strain and distance covered per game

That may be a valid point, but it seems like every League cup Semi is just PL clubs anyway.
Id personally be open to scrapping it. Too many games, so many injuries

A touch of VC sarcasm there RR.
People mocked Rodri when he said there were too many games.
Now people want to scrap an entire competition.

Just lazily asking a question to make an article
Always been sympathetic to the players side of this anyway
Some of my favourites basically fell apart at their prime from injuries and being overplayed - Kante being the main one

His problem was being played through injury not fixture congestion yes it wasnt an example pertinent to the article more Rodri’s sort of point generallt
Just my suggestion this article - Fifpro want diff things, they want tournaments reduced etc and there was talk of removing two teams from the PL
One less trophy for Spurs not to win
I do believe current fixture amount at the top will shorten careers

Removing 2 teams from the PL would be a far better solution imo. Especially as we are seeing the gap between the top division and second tier seemingly grow. Would mirror the Bundesliga and Primeira among others.
Personally I would go for a PL of 16 teams with a PL2 of 16 with money shared across the 2 leagues but cannot see that ever happening!
