Jess Carter wanted team-mates to miss!!

but the way Carter has expressed herself could possibly enhance the divide rather than help bring it together.

The kind of idiots that analyse such a statement for every tiny potential issue would never be brought together anyway.

People who want division will always latch on to some content, usually taken out of context and in bad faith. For me it's a normal human reaction that she feels such empathy for the likely racist abuse James would receive. And the fact that part of her wants another, non-black player to miss a penalty to give her some sort of shelter from it becoming a racialised thing (even though she obviously desperately wants to win the shoot-out) really underlines how deeply racist abuse cuts. For me, that's the story.

Wanting your team to lose because of racism is hardly a small issue. I guess in your microworld there is no racism so it doesn't exist

I think JSPC is saying that racists are going to be racist regardless of how Carter expressed herself, because they aren't open-minded, fair-minded, nuanced individuals, not saying that racism doesn't exist.

The real story here is that a player who clearly loves her country had to think in such extremes because she knows how racist huge elements of the ‘fan’ base are when they lose a big game.

It isn't huge elements, it is very much a minority.
And that is exactly what I said.

Do you get to decide how much racism is allowed before it’s considered non minor?

I don’t think she wanted England to lose.

Huh? You said "huge elements of the 'fan' base". That is not true.

It's damning that this even crossed her mind. It shows there's still a long way to go to beat the scourge of racism if this is how it affects those that have to suffer abuse.

What isn’t huge to you may be more than some can accept. As others have said on here, you’re focusing on the wrong thing. Racism is a very real problem and when players start thinking the unthinkable the empathetic thing is to see things from the POV of the abused rather than the abusers

You what? One person being racist is one too many. But it is not a huge element of the fan base.
It is very much a minority, and as I said the huge affects of the minority can be seen.

You are reading things that weren't written.

"It's horrible to say but it's almost like a sigh of relief when other players that weren't black missed a penalty"

Does that sound like someone who wanted England to lose?

It would take a real quarter wit to come to that conclusion.

posted on 12/8/25

Certainly sounds like someone who was more concerned with the 'whites' missing than her team winning. She even admits it is a "horrible thing to say" and used "relief" to describe her emotion of her teammates missing potentially decisive penalties.

posted on 12/8/25

She’s seen women take pens so knew another player missing wouldn’t lose England the match.

posted on 12/8/25

I see what she means, is there not a difference between relieved after the event and wanting them to miss before they take the penalty ?

Damn, you are stupid. Guess living in a bubble does that to a person.

As for Robb, who thinks the majority of English womens football fans are racist . What a race-baiting little maggot.
