Why does Vitor keep playing Hwang.

Should get a hat trick now I've said that.

Who else can he choose. Our forward options are pretty poor.

Great, 3 of our new signings on the bench. Obviously, no better than what we already had. Quantity over quality. Glad to see Hugo starting, deserves it.

I'd rather we started Sasa, to be honest. Hwang needs to put in a man-of-the-match performance, as VP seems to like him and doesn't look like leaving.

I just don't think we can risk Sasa starting and he will get a loan by Monday. No doubt a better player than Hwang and offers more. Maybe Hwang will have one of his rare better games today

Can't believe Newcastle have just paid 85m euros for Nick Woltemade, who only last season got a free transfer from his previous club. That's what I call panic buying. Hope they leave Larsen alone now.

Top scorer in the u21 euros wasn't he this summer. But seems a ridiculous price either way.

We have been terrible so far, Everton well on top and of course a goal up

Why do we have to give a gaol start to the other times.

Defend for heavens sake.

He's great isn't he
HWANG what a player.

Great goal, Munetsi great cross and Hwang finish. Entirely against the run of play when it came but we look better now.

Not sure how it wasn't a foul on Andre before their second, but we were second best that half anyway.

Can't defend and not creating chances. Doesn't bode well at the moment.

Hate to say it as not usually too down about it this early but this year has relegation written all over it. Fairly clear VP favours hard graft over quality.

We're really bad.

Getting totally outclassed by Everton at home

posted on 30/8/25

Last season it was obvious it was the coaching that was the problem as we had enough quality. This time we just look like we aren't good enough at either end of the pitch.

Depressing.

Fosun better sell up quick.

Everton walking to the edge of our box at will

I'm afraid this is what you get when you don't replace quality with quality. Maybe it's too early to judge the new players, but our defence is like a sieve right now. Maybe time to go to a back four also.

Looked like Cunha pulled a hamstring today.

posted on 30/8/25

Back four is a must in my opinion if he is going to insist on crap like Munetsi playing every week.

Currently we have one player basically trying to tie misfield and attack together in Arias and he is struggling with the crap around him.

So much better when Lopez came on, we need some quality like him in there to actually play football rather than chase shadows all day. Andre and Gomes have so much to do each week with little help.

Tchatchoua is lively going forward but he is pretty poor on the ball and Hugo is just not prem standard at all. Not convinced Wolfe is either but at least it appears he can defend a bit. Toti is dreadful and the feckin captain ffs.

Hwang, what can you say, he is awful. Bellegarde mostly awful, Munetsi pointless against most teams other than the top sides for his pressure. Why does Rodrigo get just about no game time, he has earned a chance surely??

We are in big trouble and I think VP is a big part of the problem, quite clear he values hard running and big guys over quality or pace.

Wolves made a fight of it in the end but the scoreline flattered them as they were a poor second. Best for most of the game. Surprise that Hwang and Munetsi combined for a really good goal. For the rest of the game they were both very poor technically on the ball and static off the ball.

What Vitor achieved last season was a significant improvement to our defence but they’ve certainly gone backwards this season, even Agbadou.

Things improved after substitutions with Rodrigo, Bellegarde, Sasa and particularly Lopez doing well. And it was an excellent assist by Wolfe for our second.

But we are in trouble and we need the Larsen replacements to make a big difference.

Fer Lopez and Rodrigo Gomes were the only positives today. Everything else was incredibly concerning.

posted on 30/8/25

I did think that Joao Gomes was reliably good. On the other hand, goal excepted Hwang was reliably poor.

Just been reported on the Leeds - Newcastle game on. BBC site that Newcastle would benefit from the £65m player sat in the stands.
