We need time for all of the new players to find their feet in this team. Teams aren't created overnight.
Until we get some more attacking options and our new players bed-in, we can look forward to a series of games similar to the Newcastle and Everton ones with the odd Arsenal-style oopsie mixed in.
I hope our team picks up - until then we just have to pick up points where we can and hope that there are three consistently worse teams out there.
---------~-------------------------------------------------------------
Agree with this and am firm believer that players take time to adjust to overseas moves, but the better quality the player, the quicker they find their feet.
I feel our last 4/5 transfer windows have been have better than under Orta, and it's clear we've tried to improve the squad the time around, no hesitation in trying to improve upon Meslier, add height and midfielders, but that the striking issue and number 10 are still gaping gaps for us.
Credit to Farke for trying to progress the squad and you're right, not built overnight, but I think lack of real intent in bringing in a front man might cost us dear.

The front players should have been the priority

Have to agree with Jonty about Gruev, never really thought he cut in the championship, but he’s covering for injured players. You where ball is going when he has it, awkwardly back to defender. We need players at this level who can drive forward from midfield, or pick a forward pass when possible.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Did you ever watch Batty play? 90% of his game was what Gruev is there to do. Break up play. Strong tackles. Play it to a more forward thinking player. Unfortunately we don’t have a McAllister to play it to at the moment. Or a Speed. Or a Strachan.
As for picking a forward pass when possible - he did that a few times yesterday and one pass split them in two first half.
OK he’s not going to keep his place when everyone is fit - but when they aren’t he’s a definite starter. Reliable is my word for him.
I, and the guys around me yesterday, thought our midfield three did a great job containing a very good Newcastle side yesterday. It’s the final third where we struggle with both Gnonto and James struggling to make an impression.
A good result against a top team. Any points from the top ten from last season are bonus points.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You seriously cant be comparing Gruev to Batty.
Batty didn’t constantly pass it five yards to defenders.
He could also tackle, which Gruev cant.
He also could ping a 40 yards ball, Gruev cant barely hit ball further than 20 yards.
Watching Liverpool v Arsenal
That van Djik is useless…keeps passing it back to
the goalie,he barely passes it more 10/15 yards…
he makes Gruev look world class!
NJS I find your posts and comments very soothing. Some people just can’t be bothered to find a positive thought on Leeds Utd. I don’t understand why some call themselves ‘supporters’. It’s about supporting your team and club. Yep, obviously there are times to debate certain aspects that you may have issues with.
But come on people….we haven’t conceded a goal at home and just got a point from a CL team. I was ecstatic with the result.

Jonty - why bring up Bates when we have just picked up a point against a Champions League team? It’s not necessary. That is behind us. Be happy.😊
I understand some fans hate the happy clappers - but come on….stop spinning the negativity. There is a time and a place.
Not spinning any negativity it’s the usual assessment of what I saw in match?
No match or performance is ever perfect, but if you don’t like people expressing their opinions then not sure why you’re on a football forum.
I brought up bates to highlight how ludicrous to say you’re not a supporter unless getting behind team.
So question remains, as a supporter, we’re you getting behind everything Bates did to our club?
Why am I on this forum? Seriously? So you can put your thoughts forward buy I can’t?
And to answer the question, during Bates time yes I supported Leeds Utd. Always have, always will. I don’t know anything about running a football club or owning it.
Should I sit back and accept what you say? You clearly can’t accept what I’m saying so question why I’m on this forum?? I’ve been here since day 1.
“I brought up bates to highlight how ludicrous to say you’re not a supporter unless getting behind team.”
And please explain to me at what point I said this? I said nothing close to this.
Maybe you’re not understanding what I wrote.
I didn’t say you can’t put your thoughts forward or should just accept what I say.
What I said was:
“if you don’t like people expressing their opinions then not sure why you’re on a football forum”
I thought that was a pretty straightforward statement,
You don’t need to be so condescending.
I have always enjoyed your posts Jonty to be fair. I’m not trying to be rude.

I look forward to your next thoughts v Fulham 👍

You obviously haven’t watched many Leeds games in your time. Batty was a hero because his tackles were hard and to be honest he would not last 45 minutes these days.
In 266 appearances he scored 5 goals and had 15 assists, 5 red and 65 yellow cards.
His job was to break up play, win the ball and pass it simple. Sound like anyone else?
I’ve forgotten more about football than you will ever know sunshine!
Stoopo, Batty was sensational
Gruev is useless
Batty did far more than tackle
