Jamie Carragher was no worse than John Terry. He was however not as good as Japp Stam, Marcel Desailly, Tony Adams and that is just the premier league. The 90's and early noughties had some top notch defenders, better than most of today. To name a few:-
Bixente Lizarazu
Lilian Thuram
Cafu
Frank de Boer
Roberto Carlos
Paolo Maldini
Javier Zanetti
Laurent Blanc
I know they are not all center halves but I just have fond memories of those defenders.

Terry is top three of PL era for me. I’d place him second behind VVD personally.

I think thats most, although ive met some Utd fans who argue Vidic over Rio

Vidic didnt have the longevity in the league vs the others is my reasoning
