Weve been the problem with managers and players. Something very odd happens at this club behind the scenes.
Doesn't seem to be changing either.

He wasn't at his best for us, no, but you're talking like the players he left behind are doing any better.
Struggling team without an identity and not playing to its strengths is difficult to thrive in.

Aye, no issue with that but I also feel Rashy had a few more issues than just the teams "identity"? No doubt I would have loved him to have got amongst it but wasn't sure he could have? That said we will never know now? Just hope he keeps on keeping on so we can get a good price if he does leave
For all I feel I DO wish he'd have cracked on with us as I like him but perhaps feel he'd gone beyond being able to do that?

Fans went way too hard on him like it was his fault we were crap. That's how it felt at times.
Truth is it wasn't anything to do with him. We've got worse since he joined Villa and won fewer pts per game. 🤣
posted 4 weeks, 1 day ago
I think deep down Rashford hoped he could work for us because United are his team but for multiple reasons it wasn’t going to happen. Sounded like today he was quite frustrating until his goals which was often how he was for us, he also historically goes through purple patches so it will be interesting to see how he goes.

You keep pushing that narrative that fans were too hard on him and it's a load of bolx
He got no more criticism than any other player when he didn't perform or went through the motions

I used to defend Rashford to the hilt especially after he showed what he was capable of following the WC.
But in the past 2 seasons it wasn't just his lack of goals it was his attitude that was the problem. He moped around, didn't work hard on the pitch and generally couldn't give a fck. Put me right off him.
All he's shown tonight is what he capable of achieving when he tries, that is all, shame he didn't half as much at United that's on him.
posted 4 weeks, 1 day ago
If you play for Barca, more likely than not you will get a few goals.
My view on Rashford has always been the same - he had an outstanding 3-6 months for us, and other times he has been somewhere between mediocre to pretty good.
We needed him to be a leader, a player who showed the way, but not all players have that and it's not an easy role to fulfil. Mentally he was not right with us at the end. So with the players we had around him, and the general atmosphere at Utd, he was always going to struggle. And let's be honest, his body language and demeanour on the pitch can be pretty poor at times.
He is the type of player that if you surround him with other good players, and his mind is in the right place, can look very effective. Barcelona is his big chance, and honestly, I hope he takes it. But right now there's a hell of a lot of a difference in playing for Utd than playing for Barca.
So he will probably do well for Barca, and England for that matter, and the easy narrative is to say all the fault is at Utd, but it's never that simple really

He should have been better than most of our team, but he didn't perform that way and his demeanour both on and off the pitch was pretty poor in the latter part of his career. You can blame the manager, the club, the player, but that's the way it was.
It was obviously better for both him and us that we parted ways.
Wasn't so long ago that people were talking about him being sent back by Barca etc. One good game and he's a world beater again.

Nobody at Barcelona was wanting to send him back, as far as I understood it was just BS rumours.
Nobody will convince me that it was right to move him on.
His wages were ridiculous but that isn't Rashfords fault.
I'm sure he would've loved playing with Cunha and Mbuemo. Interchangeable front 3, would've been quite good to watch I reckon.

His last 2 seasons for us were generally pretty poor. Ultimately it's up to a player to try and do his best for the team, and quite honestly his attitude just wasn't right in the end. His wage isn't his fault, but he wasn't performing as a top player. If that doesn't convince you he should have moved on, then that's your prerogative.
But from what I have seen in his whole career at Utd, he's not done enough to suggest we should be desperate to keep him (and regardless, his wage is a factor in that), and sometimes you have to accept it's time to move on
I don't know about Sesko, it's early days and I'll reserve judgement on him.
The point about one moment Barca wanting to send him back, the next he's a world beater, is that people just knee-jerk react from game to game, regardless of how much truth there is in it.
I have said earlier what I feel on the whole situation on a more long-term view, but basically good luck to him and hope he does well
He has been pretty poor for them so far. We need him to do well so that we can get a bit of cash when he gets sold.

Kobbie on the way too. More top class man management from Ruben.
I watched the game and watched Rashford particularly closely. His goals were fantastic, but he constantly ran down blind ally’s, miscontrolled the ball, gave the balls way.
It’s the same Rashford in a different kit,
I feel much the same way about Rashford's move as I do McTominay's. He's emerged from our academy, been part of our community for years, given us some unforgettable moments. Assuming he never joins one of our domestic rivals, he'll always be one of us. It was best for both parties for him to leave, and if he smashes it abroad, that'll be amazing.
Yeah I think the problem is clearly Manchester United.
-----------------------------------------------------------
Tens of thousands of fans have said something like this on social media. I wonder how many of them stopped to consider whether they are one of the reasons why good players keep failing at United.
Great game from Rashers... Hopefully many more to come.
There's been far much upheaval at the club. We've been chopping and changing managers and systems for far too long now and sadly players like Rashford who have been around for a fair few of the changes have sadly lost their way.
I think a change of scenery was needed for him and I'm pleased for him about last night.
Ultimately he left to play CL football for Villa for a few games, qualified for Europe with them then joined Barcelona. Meanwhile we've got less pts per game since he left and we lost a 4th tier club in the league cup.
I wish the lad the best but again let's see how it pans out before declaring him better than what we have after scoring his 1st goals for a club.
He still only has 4 goals from play since he's last kicked a ball for us.
