At the derby on the weekend who was the player getting all the space on the left hand side yet doing absolutely sweet FA with it? Dorgu.
Do you think Pep would rather face a United team playing 343 with Dorgu or 433 with Rashford? I think he'd pick Dorgu every day of the week and twice on Sunday.

We are very judgmental on players who haven't been here for a long time, or perhaps see certain players with rose-tinted glasses. I will just comment on the following 3:
Dorgu - still a work in progress, many seem to be writing him off. Maybe he will end up not being good enough, but deserves a little more time to develop in a struggling team.
Sesko - another who is having to prove himself in a new team. Once again a case of trying to be patient, but prob needs some goals to boost his confidence.
Rashford - always been a streaky player, but towards the end with Utd, there far more poor games than good. Lacks consistency, and I just feel in our current situation, we needed more from him than what he could give. He is more than capable of doing well elsewhere, but it was time for him to move on and rediscover his mojo.
The team as a whole isn't in a great place.... there was optimism at the start of the season, but you can feel the confidence slowly seeping out of the team, and Amorim seems to be drowning. Hoping for a turnaround but hard to envisage.

His record vs the big 6 in general is fantastic tbf. I'm sure it's right up there with Rooney in those games which speaks volumes.
He lost his way a lot after that amazing season but I still don't think it was all his fault. This club is clearly not set up to succeed right now. Everyone comes here and fails, both players and managers. The only one who hasn't is Bruno and he's had plenty of up and down moments too.

A 31 goal season for a player playing LW/LF is pretty much unheard of at this club other than Ronaldo.
His record vs top clubs too is exceptional.

It's good going but doesn't change the fact that more than half of his goals came in a 3 month 17 game run while he was pretty average in the 1st 3rd of the season up until the World Cup and poor after March.
He was brilliant for 3 months and pretty average for the rest of the last 3-4 seasons.
If he maintained anything like that form in early 2023 he'd still be playing for us.
Have other at he club been as bad? Absolutely

I love Rashford and always will. I believe he could have become a much better player if he hadn't been overplayed, played through injury, and poorly coached between the ages of 17 and 25. Despite that, he has given us more moments of joy than pretty much any player during the period of his United career.
But anyone musing that if only he had played instead of Dorgu is indulging in fantasy. Yes, Dorgu isn't (currently) good enough to be relied upon as the key attacking output. Yes, Amorim should look to tweak his system so that one of the more refined attacking players is getting more of the ball receptions in the box that are falling to Dorgu. But we also know the following:
- Rashford would be completely incapable of contributing (as Dorgu does) to the out of possession system that resulted in United having more of the ball than City.
- Rashford didn't fit the needs of Amorim's system as a 10 (not tidy enough on the ball, not good at dribbling in tight spaces) or a centre forward (lacks back to goal game and quality movement) or a wing back (lacks stamina and positional discipline).
- Before failing to impress Amorim, Rashford at United failed for a year in a Ten Hag system that was built around him, that was designed to leverage the things he's best at.
- Above all, he pretty much explicitly told us that he was jaded at United and needed a move to revive his love for the game. And we could all see that, for months, in his body language and the disappearance of his smile.
For me, seeing him score twice for Barcelona away against a good team in the CL, walk off the pitch as man of the match, and break out that smile: that's the story. It's great to see. It's all a bit navel gazing for my tastes to watch that and then make it a prop for another moan about Manchester United.

Exactly what Russian said.
It'll be interesting to see how much game time Rashford gets and if he is able to take those oportunities like he did so well last night. We all know he has the talent but it's about being consistent with it and being mentally strong to overcome those mental hurdles that he struggles with (also whether he can do the dirsty work Flick will demand from him). He started because Yamal was injured (sounds like the Spanish national team played him unnecessarily) but it's unlikely he'll be picked ahead of either Yamal or raphina when fit. But Barca should probably also look to ease Yamal's playing time seeing as he's only 18, but based off of the last 2 season I don't see that happening much. But that then may lead to more niggling injuries like the one he currently has which will give Rashford those opprtuniries he needs.
Either way, hopefully we sell him next summer and spend the money well.

As if United are going to qualify for the CL this season. United fans are becoming the new, Newcastle fans. I will settle for 2 things this season under Amorim. To avoid a relegation battle and /or to push for a Ropey League spot when the white ball comes back out again next year at squeaky bum time

----------------------------------------------------------------------
I don’t hate him at all. I just don’t think he’s a near as good as the likes of you make out.
What’s incorrect about what I’ve said about that season?

At the derby on the weekend who was the player getting all the space on the left hand side yet doing absolutely sweet FA with it? Dorgu.
Do you think Pep would rather face a United team playing 343 with Dorgu or 433 with Rashford? I think he'd pick Dorgu every day of the week and twice on Sunday.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Rashford has a knack for terrorising city
----------------------------------------------------------------------
His record vs the big 6 in general is fantastic tbf.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The "amazing" season was an amazing 3 months if we look at it realistically.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
My god you're so pathetic Process. You say you wish him well but you're full of crap. You don't mean it. You seem to hate him more than anyone on this forum almost as much as I hate ETH.

A 31 goal season for a player playing LW/LF is pretty much unheard of at this club other than Ronaldo.
His record vs top clubs too is exceptional.
Show the guy some respect for God's sake.
Too many people wanted somebody to blame. Weve got worse since he left.

You can wish someone well and also think he wasn't good enough for large period and needed a move.
I think there are multiple factors why Rashford struggled often caused by both Rashford and those around him and the club.

Some players do better at other clubs than at United. It's not a big deal. It happens.
I for one would be delighted to see Rashford back playing at Old Trafford for Barca, terrorising the United defence, next season.

I've seen some strange things in football but Barcelona playing in the Championship next season is a step too far.

As if United are going to qualify for the CL this season. United fans are becoming the new, Newcastle fans. I will settle for 2 things this season under Amorim. To avoid a relegation battle and /or to push for a Ropey League spot when the white ball comes back out again next year at squeaky bum time

Rashford has moved on. Just hope he does well for the rest of the season at Barca, and hopefully they come back with a good offer.
