Anyone else getting sick of Modric Hype?

Sorry but no...........

It doesn't matter how good he is compared to the rest of the world the fact remains he's our best player

As for using money from his sale , we don't need the money that badly as we have numerous players not good enough for us but would make excellent purchases for other sides ...I didnt mean that to sound nasty but in football there are different levels

Anyway IMO there is cash available and the important thing must be to free up money from the wage budget

I agree with you. Great at controlling a game but where did that leave us against the bottom teams last season? I reckon we could have played Kranjcar in the same position against those teams and probably have got more points.

We have a strong midfield without him, and we have proven this in his absence. The season before last we stayed in top 4 for most of the season despite Modric being out for half of it and then coming back in not the best form. We also didn't look too shabby at the start of last season, again when Modric wasn't in his best form. Not to mention we rarely get any goals from him when he has many good opportunities to score.

If you were to offer me Hernandez for Modric I'd accept, simply because like you I believe we'd benefit more from a top striker without Modric, than we would Modric without a top striker.

I am sick of the hype but dont want to see him leave unless he does a Berbatosser, then he can go and good riddance.

His value is relative to what he is worth to Spurs not relative to what Liverpool waste money on.

Anderson is better than Modders, as hard as it for me to admit.

Sorry guys we just have to sell him off and replace with Gio.

No wonder this site is having difficulty attracting new posters when garbage like this is being posted.

If you can't appreciate and acknowledge what Modric brings and adds to our game, then you really don't have a clue.

And as for the comment about getting more points with Kranjcar in the same position, I suggest you try thinking before posting such utter nonsense.

I just wish we'd bring up some youth instead of throwing our money anyway on nearly men like Modders and Palacios.

We need to look at Man City's model.

We need to look at Man City's model

What, buying every player in sight and paying well over the odds for them

If we were to receive an offer of 25-30M, I would have to accept it. Simply because I think we would benefit more from having a top-class striker with that money than keeping Luka.

Where to start....... Firstly its not a case of Modric OR a striker now is it? We have the funds available. Secondly then what top class striker are we gonna attract without Champions League football and with our wage cap? We are gonna be VERY fortunate if we get a recognised top class striker to take a chance on playing for us and if hes that good he would get probably double what we will be prepared to pay for him. We gotta be realistic about things here.

Unless we change our wage cap we aint gonna get a world class striker. We'll hopefully get a decent established striker and then a great young prospect if all goes well.

To be honest RRP, I think you're the one being naive when you say 'who do we replace Modric with?'

A huge amount of Spurs fans hadn't heard of Berbatov when we signed him, and look how good he turned out to be. I'll be honest, I never knew of Modric before we signed him.

There are scouts/managers etc that know a fair amount more about replacing players than your average fan does.

How am i being naive? Again i will ask, you give me a name of a player who can do Modrics job for £25 million who is willing to come to us despite not being in the CL and our wage cap?

I will ask you a question, why do you think its OK to sell our best player in return for £25 million? We dont need the money, we have the funds available to spend on some decent strikers

And going by our scouts who said Suarez wasn't good enough, i wouldn't trust them to spot a plane at an airport

It's not just about sticking a value on a players head and saying 'he can replace him'. It's also about buying a player for a sum and developing him into a player worth more than what he was signed for. Players like Luka himself, players like Berbatov and Aaron Lennon.

If you asked three years ago for a midfielder who we could sign who would improve us dramatically, hardly anybody would say Modric, because he was unknown by many fans.

There is bound to be many players out there who could replace Modric, they just need signing.

Evening Blanch, good to see you on here

"It's also about buying a player for a sum and developing him into a player worth more than what he was signed for. Players like Luka himself, players like Berbatov and Aaron Lennon."

But why risk buying a player who DOESN'T turn into the player we need? Why sell Modric who IS the player we need...and we have him under contract!

So what your saying is, your willing to wait for another 3 years, in the SMALL chance we will find another "Modric"?

We are SO close to doing something special, and you want to rip those plans up by selling our best players, makes no sense

The way things are going with City and Liverpool, if we dont keep our players but most importantly bring in the players we need this summer then we will be back to fighting it out for a top half finish

Jes if it was only that easy man, sure all clubs have scouts it would take us to spot someone none of the clubs above us in the various leagues spot and that would take some doing. With Modric we got a class player on our hands if anyone was as good as him hes gonna be spotted by other clubs too.

Then we have the problem of not having CL football, having financial restraints on his wages its just not as easy as you're making out

Lets not forget the fact that this is chelsea that he wants to go to. its not real or barca, its not even man united. its a team who i personally cannot stand, and why would we want to do any kind of business with them

Ever Banega, Moutinho, Hernanes, Sahin, Artura Vidal and Javi Martinez all do a job similar to Modric.

Banega, Moutinho, Sahin, Vidal all have Champions League football so that's a no but Hernanes and Javi Martinez both play for teams who have not qualified for the CL and with 25M you can buy one of them.

A Chelsea fan trying to find us replacements for Modric

Yeah thanks for that.....

So Hernanes and Martinez...have they played in the PL, proved they wont be another £28 million Veron?! Why take the risk when we have the perfect player already

People also seem to be forgeting Modric does not want to be at Tottenham. Meaning there is a big chance his head will drop and his performances will suffer.
