So you're now able to give a more sober assessment of Carrick's game?

...................

Had to laugh at that one.

Some of the more plastic United fans on here just plainly refuse to give Carrick any kind of credit at the moment, it really is pathetic.

I genuinely think they hate seeing him play well.

I don't understand what was so bad about Carrick last season. From the games I've seen him play last season he was solid defensively and intelligent with distributing the ball.

In the Champions League he was definitely your best player. He completely destroyed us in both legs.

Sadly we have a lot of fans who do not understand football.

If a player isn't as exciting to watch as Rooney, or Nani, he is deemed crap by them.

The biggest reason why Michael Carrick bashers have decided to walk away with their tales between their legs, is due to the results.

Despite our great start to the season, which Michael Carrick was not apart off with either being on the bench, or being injured - We seemed to just have the philosophy of out-scoring our opponents. They had been many games were most fans put their hands up and said 'we could have lost that one'. Chelsea was one of the biggest examples, as if it wasn't for Torres poor efforts we could have lost! Basel was our wake-up call, but Manchester City was the one that punished us, and how much did that hurt?!

Game after game it was there, that we were inviting pressure on us, but with Michael Carrick back that had stopped. He stabilised the team completely, and even the most ignorant of fans started to see it.

True. Even CP seems to have acknowledged his form. The only person who still denies it is We_are_all_Utd, who can apparently "train a monkey to do what Carrick does".

There are 3 or 4 that come quite close mind.

To be honest Carrick wasn't anywhere near as bad as people made out last season. The thing is everyone kept saying he was playing poorly, when infact there was 4/5 of our players on the pitch that were playing worse.

Last season, Carrick played really well from about March onwards. So to be fair him, he's refound his form and has been playing consistently great for nearly a year now. That type of consistency is rarely rivalled for a central midfielder.

correct

Those 'fans' that are suddenly saying he has finally found form do not realise he's been playinglike this for nearly a year now

He's just the scapegoat when things go wrong.

What a lovely thread this is ..

A bunch of guys who think their opinions are more valid than the next guy ...

If fans have different opinions to yours .... then they are plastics, pathetic, tools, completely clueless, ignorant and know nothing at all about football ..

Is this the standard of 606 nowadays ? .. so many people with illusions of grandeur ..

The next time Carrick gets shown up against the first half decent midfield outfit that close him down and give him no time on the ball .... i shall be looking for your responses.

I've said this on a fair few threads now but I'll say it again.

Michael Carrick has played a big role having been picked for five full seasons by the best manager ever in many people's view during the most successful period in the club's history. Therefore I have to come to the conclusion that he is a bloody good player.

I bet if he played in Spain and was called Michel Carricko a lot of fans would want us to sign him for £30m.

He is chosen to play a certain role for United which allows us to play the traditional wide game which the club is famous for.

Credit where it's due would be nice from time to time. He may well play poorly for a few games during the run in but I cannot think of many more consistent United players during his time at the club in terms of quality of performance and, importantly, availability for selection.

A true professional who may not be truly appreciated until he has gone.

My faith in fellow United fans has been restored

It's just the odd few that don't get it.

There's a thread going on where we are praising one of our own for his great performances and one of our 'fans' comes in and makes a throw away comment criticising us for supporting a Utd player.

The amazing thing is that the fan thinks we have illusions of grandeur (should be delusions of grandeur).

Look, like most people who have any intelligence. I criticise a players performance when I know he can do better, he will have my support no matter what so far as he puts on the Utd shirt.

People who can't bring themselves to do that are not Utd fans.

It's funny, just about every midfielder comes across opposition that causes him problems and it's not an issue, when it happens to Carrick, it is. Why is that?

For example, Luka Modric struggles against everyone, from Stoke City to Gareth Barry and people praise him. People slate Carrick though for struggling against Busquets, Xavi and Iniesta.

Why is that?

drivel

Valencia had a stinker against Barca because he had no space. Doesn't make him a bad player, so why should a bad game make Carrick a bad player?

He's been one of our most consistant performers for the last 12 months and you sir are an utter fool.
