England Captain

So Joe Hart then
Don't like keepers as captains,

posted on 4/2/12

joe harts the only player who matches that criteria imo

Anyone can be a leader on the pitch if they want to be, but the armband needs to be dealt with permanently.

Hart is the only solution.

Parker fits that criteria, too, tbh. I am not against the idea of Hart being captain, it's just that I don't really like 'keepers being captain. Parker would cover more ground than any player on the pitch. It would make more sense for him to have it.

That being said we all know Gerrard will get it.

Parker wouldn't be a guaranteed starter though would he?

Batmanu

For me Parker isn't a guaranteed starter, especially beyond Euro 2012.

It would be a very temporary solution though he'd be perfect in the short-term if he's playing.

Gerrard

Carrick is better than Parker.

I think Parker is a guaranteed starter tbh. Injury permitting I think Capello will go with Parker and Wilshere in midfield with Gerrard playing off Rooney. Along with Cashley and Hart I don't think anybody else's place is guaranteed.

Only at imitating a crab

It just shows how poor a job Capello has done that coming towards a major tournament, England have only 4 guaranteed starters (or 3 depending on what you think of Cole).

Just give it anyone... it's only a 6 month slot until the new manager comes in.

Always United

How many guaranteed starters are there at United?

Carrick IS better than Parker. But Parker has attributes that are going to be very useful for England thus summer.

This is why Carrick - Parker should be the CM, with Gerrard, Cleverley and Wilshere on the bench.

I think a CM of

-----------Carrick------------
Gerrard----------Wilshere

will be excellent.

Carrick has been very average for a long time. He has only picked up form over the last 2 months. I don't think Capello is going to go from not even calling him up, to building a team around a midfield with him in it within the next few months.

Only 3!

Vidic, Evra and Rooney

But the club game is much different to international football (team play is much more difficult to develop because players don't meet often) and United are blessed with some great options.

Carrick has been in great form for at least the last 12 months.

I think Carrick is made for International football.

People don't see that Parker has to make tackle upon tackle as he's out of position.

If you're like a Carrick, Makelele, Busquets, Alonso or Pirlo, you make interceptions rather than tackle

posted on 4/2/12

I like Parker but over the last few years I'd have had Carrick over him and still would.

I think Carrick does a better job positionally and uses the ball better, Parker's superior tackling and tenacity don't make up for that at international level IMO.

If it was up to me I would play

Hart
Richards Rio Smalling Cashley
Jones Parker Wilshere
Young Rooney Johnson

I think we are very weak on the wings. Johnson and Young are the best of a very bad bunch, both are very overrated IMO but compared to the likes of Walcott, SWP, Downing, Lennon, etc they should be nailed on to start. I wouldn't rule out somebody like Nathan Dyer getting a call up who has been far better than any of the wingers I have just listed, this season.

Capello will probably go with

Hart
Johnson Terry Cahill Cashley
Walcott Wilshere Parker Young
Gerrard
Rooney

spot the odd one out!!!

So carrick, who is continually slated by your own fans, should now be a nailed on starter!? really?

As for eboue:
Hart
Richards Rio Smalling Cashley
Jones Parker Wilshere
Young Rooney Johnson

im sure glad you are not the england manager as that team is poor.

I'm one of Rio's biggest fans Batmanu but I'm worried about how deep he's dropping. For me it's the end of an era for England with Terry also looking less than impressive.

I quite like the look of your team and if Rio can re-discover the belief in his game I'd probably do practically the same (I'd swap Parker and Jones for Carrick and Cleverley).

Would you consider Sturridge for RWF?

Or a 4-4-2 system with Rooney playing off Welbeck, Bent or maybe Defoe?

I don't think Young and Johnson are that bad but neither are in a good moment.

Since when do fans decide who is a good player. the majority are thick, uninformed or don't know what they are looking at (especially the midfield).

How many of your fans were slating Lucas? How many jumped on the bandwagon once a few pundits started saying he was playing well?

I pretty much agree with all that Batmanu... Who would you play in Rooney's position for the first 2 games?

I want to say Welbeck (no Utd bias intended) but i'd prefer if he played for it to be with Rooney... but then thats means 4-4-2 and that wont work.

I dont think England have someone who could fill that void, unless going back to 4-4-2
