To be honest the Carling Cup will be pivital to our season. I know its a nothing cup, but we haven't won anything since 2006!
I would be happy with the Carling Cup and a 5th-7th spot.
Seeing as you claim to support 5 different clubs, what would make your season a disappointing one?

So Carling Cup but no European football?
Do you think that will be sufficient to attract high quality players in the summer?
I think 'Pool has to put all it's got into winning the Carling Cup.
Do teams automatically get Thursday night European footy, if they win the Carling Cup, or was that all scrapped?
We will be in the Europa League if we win the Carling Cup.
Will we be able to attract high quality players?
It will be hard and it would have to take a bit more looking. Look at VDV and Modric at Tottenham or Suarez for us.
I completely agree with TNLB.
The League Cup is a big game for us this season. I would add that overall our performances have been good it's just our inability to finish our chances which has frustrated me.
I feel that.Kenny is building a team with a core of young players who have a good team spirit and an excellent work ethic. I'm hoping the owners will have the funds and the commitment to add the players who can add a bit more flair and creativity in the final third
I hope we go at developing players like Sterling, Silva, Suso, Morgan ect. The Europa league will do to blood them and help us ease them into the first team.
It the meantime Spurs can knock themselves out in the CL lose Bale to Barca and Harry can take over the England team after coming out of prison.
By that time we will be ready to step up into the CL with a couple of extra additions to take over from a Spurs team that just kept our seat warm for a year.

Hi Agger.
When you say extra additions how many are you talking about?
Looking beyond this season and next, who are Liverpool going to dislodge from the top 4 ? City look nailed on top four for the forseeable future. United always do it. Chelsea wont have another season as bad as this one, and Arsenal will improve too. Tottenham look a good shout, and you can't discount Newcastle. Somewhere in the mix are Liverpool but there is no guarantee at all of Champions League football for a while to come. The longer you are out of it, the harder it is to get back in. There was a cosy top four for a long time and it was relatively easy to get fourth spot, City and to a certain extent, Spurs have changed all that.
If we can develop the talent we have I think we need one striker and another winger.
Well to be fair Chelsea have ageing players: Terry, Cole, Lampard, Malouda, Drogba...and FFP will hold them back (look at the time taken to sign Cahill.)
Tottenham could have to replace their manager, their striker (Adebayor) and Modric could still be on his way out. They could implode.
Arsenal miss out on top four, Wenger rarely has the fans on his side at the moment, and it would be hard to replace him. Lets not forget that Van Persie could leave for nothing at the end of the season!
The FFP rules are indeed Liverpools big chance, if enforced they will hold back both City and Chelsea, but benefit United, Liverpool and Arsenal.
I just think getting into the top four has got a whole lot harder and now fourth spot has an unseeded playoff, getting into the group stage even harder.
Not to mention what will happen to Man Utd when Fergie steps down.
Not to mention when Evra, Rio, Scholes, Giggs...all follow him, and retire for good.
We can all dream.
Aggers .
Think you might need a little more that , your best player by a million miles is Gerrard and he aint getting any younger plus i can also see Suarez leaving in a few years if the press dont stop hounding him . So where does that leave Liverpool in a few years ?
£40m to spent, with a new coach at the club?
a few years ? June more like it,
4O mill gets you one great player , its hard to sign one if your not playing CL football . Not knocking you but the last 80 mill or so didnt get you too far .
Trophy would be nice this year seeing as we are the favourites in a final. Anything more would be a bonus, of course Europa League comes with winning the Carling Cup. Ideally pipping Arsenal and Chelsea to 4th and winning the FA Cup as well would be great. Realistically I think 6th place, Carling Cup and I don't think the FA Cup is unrealistic either.
I will be happy, as I am now, with my team/squad/club trying their best to be as successful as possible, with everyone singing from the same song sheet and for us to get as much points as possible, then see where we end up. jimmyTheRed

-----------------
I wouldn't.
The Carling Cup would be good for one thing and one thing only - to install confidence. Belief that we can then push on and grab that fourth spot, which, if we are honest, has always been the aim for this year.
A cup is a bonus, and it will be great to win something again, but 4th is priority and let's not pretend it isn't.
Its not out of the question that Liverpool do in fact finish 4th . Winning the CC is great but i think some of you underestimate how important qualifying for the CL really is .
