Only slight concern is our players basically have no trust ahead of next season.

Club World Cup goes on until mid July. While I think we'll probably lose around the quarters stage, that still takes us to early July. Going to have to rest players at start of season and ease them back in

It would be smart for all the European clubs to treat it like the fanciest pre-season tour ever.

If you only got the big bucks from winning it that would be an interesting dilemma, but you make bank just by qualifying.

I remember being on here four years ago and Blarmy called everyone Chelsea fan a fellow Champion of Europe for about two months

We need to use this Club World Cup to our advantage then, ie get all or at least vast majority of transfer business done nice and early so that we're ready for the CWC and therefore will be nice and ready for the start of the PL as a result.

Instead of the disorganised mess we usually are going into the start of the season hoping to do too much of our transfer business towards the end of the window, or even last minute. Which rarely works out that well.

My hope is we sign just three players that will definitively improve our squad - CB, LW, ST - and then bring back Petrovic. Get it all wrapped up by early July.

But that's never been the Clearlake way.

Also reality that Clearlake's targers are different from mine: Guehi, Gittens, Delap is my guess in terms of kinds of players they'll buy for those positions.

I was impressed with Enzo last night in the 2nd half, he had that energy and drive i was hoping for in big games

Delap has a lot of potential and is a good player, but the reality is he's probably 18 months-2 years away from being a title contending striker so he's not going to immediately improve us imo.

Same with Gittens, who is a worldie on football manager and loved by all the hipsters, but needs time.

Feel like he's finally adapting to demands of PL and our team, which is nice.

Yeah I'll take Delap and Guehi. Obviously I want you know who up front but we're clearly not after him. And Delap would be a massive upgrade on Guiu in the squad.

No offence to Guiu but I have no idea why he's been here this last season. We need two viable good striker options. Not a rookie who desperately needs game time elsewhere.

To be fair, plenty of clubs have three strikers and the idea probably was he'd play a mixture of conference league games and U23 academy matches.

I do think he needs a loan to the Championship though and play every week. Same with Tyrique George.
