Evra would be a good back-up option to Shaw, and we know how vital experience is especially if Rio, Giggs and Vidic are leaving.
Jokes aside, £30m for a left-back - What mugs we are! If he stays for at least 5-10 years it'll be worth it and then there's the fact that can he even cope at this level.
We get taken to the cleaners all of the time. In recent years only Van Persie has been of value and he wasn't inexpensive.
That's £56m in 5 years on an 18 year old left back

Kagawa was value,I think.
Let's face it, this is what will happen when we try to buy good players without CL. We will be used to hearing these ridiculously inflated transfer prices and salaries by the end of summer.
United are literally going to spùnk so much money, about blooming time too. We're meant to be the third richest club in the world.

Maybe these reports of £150m/£200m aren't too wide of the mark, only we won't get the 8/9 players expected at this rate.
Almost £100m on Fellaini, Shaw and Mata is not even close to good value.

"Evra, 33 next month, was considering leaving United in the close season but the Frenchman is now minded to stay. Shaw has been informed of this and that Evra would be happy to act as his mentor..."
Er, no thanks Paddy. Ta very much but just leave him alone the way he is.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You could just imagine his 'mentoring' during training:
'Luke, Luke, slow down, your chasing back to quickly, slow down! Take your time, all the best things happen at the other end of the pitch!'
Could be worse, he could be mentored by Buttner:
'Luke, what I find best is that I like to position myself a couple of yards behind all the other defenders. You should do the same.'
Hasn't been worth £12m to us yet.
I just can't get excited about this, sorry.
the fact that can he even cope at this level.

he coped at PL level just fine in this season
People gonna have to step down off a lot of moral high horses about our club this summer.
Were gonna have to pay players big, huge, this is just the start.
Well be not short of atracting those mercanaries.
If true I am excited. Absolute fantastic talent. Young, quick, athletic. Yes it's a hell of a lot of money but if he turns out to be a player as good and consistent or even better than Ashley Cole for example then money well spent.

Looked unnerved for England too. I think he'd slot into any PL side with ease, it's how he kicks on in his development is the question.

he's a good player but not for that money

Same Here.
Surely there are cheaper LB options out there who have the same potential ?
