And who was it that said ‘Szob just isn’t a very good footballer’?

----------------------------------------------------------------------

What?!

Who said that? I assume it was a match thread rage post because it's an insane take. I get football is about opinions but Szobo is very obviously an exceptional footballer.

There's a guy on the Liverpool subReddit who managed to get onto John Henry's yacht yesterday and was allowed to watch the game with him

https://www.reddit.com/r/LiverpoolFC/s/bQ5tO3tMdO

Asked about Isak and Henry apparently said the problem is Newcastle's lack of a sporting director and they're basically not picking the phone up.

I can’t remember who it was, but yeah, it was on the match thread.

Szoboszlai is not very good. So much energy but so little quality.

Came across this as well. A particularly enjoyable one

I’d have brought Rio on to give them something to think about the other end

We have to stop overhyping these incredibly young players. They need time

Newcastle played exactly as they had to and it basically worked.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

They were still awful to watch.

Fans cheering every free kick, corner and throw ins as if they had scored a goal.

They were falling over left right and center, and apparently tackling people knee high is OK these days.

Thank God for VAR. Otherwise Gordon would have got away with one as well. Dan Burn, Trippier
Bruno Guimarães, Joelinton were like the Leeds team from the 70's.

It was basically a derby yesterday. The goals conceded were a bit of a worry but it was always going to be an intense tough game.

Opta said yesterday was the lowest time was the ball was in play in a game since 2010, only 40 minutes actually in play.

We must have contributed largely to that, slowing the game down to take the sting out of them.

🚨🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 NEW: Despite speculation linking Marc Guehi with Manchester City and other clubs, his preference is clear: Liverpool is his top destination.

Guehi is eager to join #LFC, with talks ongoing to secure a deal before the transfer window shuts.

If a move from Crystal Palace doesn’t happen, Liverpool will target him in 2026.

Liverpool have scored in 98% of their Premier League games under Arne Slot (39/40). ⚽🔥

Slot has the highest scoring rate out of anyone who's managed 15 or more games in the league's history.

The 80's have just called, they are asking Newcastle for their football tactics back.

Long throws corners and long free kicks lumped up to Dan Burn.

This was before the red card as well.

It sure was a Kevin Keegan like passion

Probably the most confident 1st goal by a teenager since that Rooney goal!

Also I gave Sboz some stick, but he was immense yesterday.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Agreed on Szob. Maybe he's enjoying his role this season more than last season.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yes, also has a lot more competition now and he will have to play for his place more.

I think Szob just needed time to settle, it was a huge move in a huge tear for him plus he had some girlfriend issues.

His quality has always been obvious to me.

Wirtz will be similar Id have thought.

They didn't want to play football against us, which is unlike an Eddie Howe team.

They went out to stop us playing football, on the few occasions where we managed to play it was against the low block and we scored three times.

It was clear from the start that they wanted to try and bulldoze us. If Konate and Kerkez were stronger, then they would not have scored.

Those pair seriously need to sort themselves out.

Apart from that, VVD was immense.

Dunno if this is Scotland captain but Saka confirmed out of our game in Sunday.

Yeah VVD was much improved, but at this rate Id play Gomez and VVD.

Stick with it atm imo.

Need to get some rhythm, but Konate is not winning his individual duels atm, that’s for sure.

If you notice, for their equalizer Dan Burn went onto Konate, he was having no joy what so ever from VVD.

I don't think there's much value in taking Konate out right now. It'll just sh*t on his confidence and then we'd probably need him back in the team in 2 or 3 games when Gomez picks up another injury.

Keep him in until/if we sign Guehi.

I’m more worried about full back than cb tbh.

We’re going get get done plenty with back posts headers this season, called it weeks ago.

Wirtz won’t take long, he’s just adjusting to the big difference in pace. I’m as guilty as anyone, I made the assumption he’d instantly settle and wouldn’t need time to adjust. Very short sighted in hindsight.

He’s clearly big mates with Frimpong, so hopefully that’ll help him settle off the pitch.

Doesn’t surprise me, it was honestly ridiculous how many stoppages there were in the second half.
