Get well soon, fellas. I had norovirus last month and that was a terrible 48 hours.
I am still bothered about last night. We all know why Slot did what he did by choosing to play youngsters. However all the other big sides still had their star players on the bench, whereas we didn’t.
If we lose to Villa, the pressure will definitely be on Slot as we threw away a chance at a trophy just to lose a few days later. IMO, four points between Villa and City is a must. Anything less than that and we need to question whether Slot should stay at the helm.
We are playing like Woy came back, it’s that terrible.

Let’s see. Win the league, spend millions on replacements (including breaking transfer records), and we’ve lost six out of the last seven matches and currently sit 7th in the league.
What else? Oh yeah, surrender a chance at a trophy - especially at a time when we need momentum.
Let’s say we lose to Villa and City. You okay with six losses in a row in league play?

Let’s see what? A load of hyperbolic, fickle knee jerk nonsense. That’s all I see. If the club went with your regular lashing outs when things aren’t going well, we’d have three managers every season.
Of course I’m not happy with how things are going, that’s just a daft thing to even ask. But all our defeats have been by a single goal, with some coming with very late goals. I’m not saying we’ve been unlucky, because we’ve generally got what our performances have deserved, but it’s still very fine margins.
Slot deserves plenty of criticism, but so do the players. I very much doubt Slot has instructed them to play with the attitude that they have been, they really need to start standing up themselves and make the opposition work harder than they are at the moment.
What we’re seeing at the moment is kind of what I was expecting last season, but Slot made the most of the decision, whoever’s it was, to not disrupt the squad. Slot himself said earlier in the season that it was going to take time to get things right, but I doubt he envisaged it would be this poor. He’s earned the right to be given time to sort it out, it’s way too early to even suggest his position is under threat. As said earlier, Klopp had similar dips and turned it around, and it’s also been suggested that Xmas should be the point at which this decision, if necessary, is made. I agree.

There’s an awful lot of clubs that would sack the manager after 6 straight losses in the league.
I don’t think ours will though, and we have a very winnable set of fixtures after City. Start losing those and it will get sticky.
Let’s see how we do against Villa first though.

There are, but not so soon after winning the league. The exception being Chelsea of course, and I’d hope there aren’t many fans that want us to go down that route. Like you said, our club aren’t likely to act this quickly, but they’ll only stick with him whilst they think he can turn it around. But that’s because not many teams lose 6 on the bounce after winning the league.
Mancini went after winning the league, as did Ranieri,
Tbh, you can’t go round losing let’s say 9 out of 10 league games at an elite club in any situation.
They may wait for CL qualification one way or the other but even relegated teams don’t go on that sort of run.
Personally I’ve already said the season unless it’s getting really silly, and I do think we’ll turn it around, but it’s a good job we did get those two late winners earlier in the season.

Copied part of an article in The Athletic. Slot has been mocked recently for his comments on other teams tactics/time wasting, with it being used against him because we’re not winning games. But he actually first brought it up last spring, when we were in full flow. Interesting, yet very predictable, that our own media didn’t pick up on it back then, but have gone full on with it now…..
In the balmy days before Liverpool collected the Premier League trophy in May, some of head coach Arne Slot’s predictions were, perhaps, prophetic after being asked by journalists from his native Netherlands about the challenges ahead during a group interview.
Slot acknowledged that defending a title would be more difficult, because other teams would react to Liverpool’s dominance last season by investing heavily in players. Yet he was more concerned about an issue he did not think he could solve because, instead, the responsibility fell to match officials.
He said he wanted to increase the tempo of Liverpool’s play but, as he saw it, opponents had disrupted games unchallenged during 2024-25, and he feared this would become a trend. He spoke about seeing “a goalkeeper who suddenly feels a little uneasy, makes small talk, and asks where the ball is”. There were occasions where it had “taken a minute to take a throw-in”.
“It’s truly pathetic,” Slot insisted. “You can’t devise a strategy against that. That’s my biggest frustration. The times we’ve lost points, it was part of the opponent’s tactics.”
In the glory of that period in the spring, Slot’s view did not seem to matter that much. In the subsequently published findings of the Dutch newspaper, De Volkskrant, for example, the claim featured towards the end of an interview article, and did not cause any reaction back in England, where their countryman had been operating so impressively in his first year at Anfield.
The mood has changed since, with Liverpool losing six of their past seven matches across three competitions.
During this run of bad results, Slot has vaguely commented about the tactics used by the opposing teams involved but has been more careful with his words. You can imagine the storm if he had described some of Brentford’s time-wasting last weekend, during the west London club’s 3-2 win against Liverpool, as “truly pathetic”.
The same message can be received very differently whether you are winning or losing.
In May, Slot also revealed that at one Premier League managers’ meeting, a point of discussion was about the pace of games. “We want to keep it that way,” he said. “The threshold for a foul is higher than elsewhere. That’s why the league is so popular.” Yet by the end of the campaign, he had concluded that “nine times out of 10, they don’t add enough time — that’s why our matches against Paris Saint-Germain were so good. There was no time-wasting in them; it was pure football.”
