Did anyone expect England to beat Italy? No
Did England play well against Italy? I thought so
Was Roy positive in his tactics and substitutions against Italy? Yes
Did it work against Uruguay? No
Was it a bad day at the office? Yes

I don’t get how you could sack a manager for having one poor game….one!

Agreed, if we go out that is?

posted on 20/6/14

that wasn't a question

Roy is pathetic

Anyone who plays an ageing Gerrard in a 2 man midfield should be sacked

It' s not about looking at the past Rover, it's about the future. Is Roy the right man totake us to Euro 2016 glory and beyond? I have my doubts

No. Leave him.

No - it would be a knee-jerk reaction - let him grow the squad and see how he gets on in 2016 Euros. If they don't progress (or qualify!) - then it will be time for a new manager.

the only good thing he done was play some youbgsters, which any manager would have done with this squad, so he didnt really do anything

21 jobs in 38 years, awful record.

With what he has at his disposal,I think Roy has done a good job.You can't blame him for experienced players making elementary mistakes in defence, and forwards who should have done better with the chances they had .

The FA got the man they wanted. Woy is going nowhere.
Does he have the guts to completely purge the 30 somethings from the England squad for Euro 2016, or not.

If the Italy game is a draw, I would be tempted to go for a total youth starting XI against Costa Rica (even though it disadvantages Uruguay on paper) .

Alternatively - sack him now and give a new guy 4 years to the next WC, using the Euros as a pointer to see how we're progressing and gain tournament experience

roy is clueless, awful style of football.

Nope, england have played their best in a decade. keep him.

He probably made a mistake not bringing Terry and Cole but for the most part is there really that much anyone else would have done differently?

The problem is a lack of quality players and a lack of work ethic- the amount of space between attack and defence was unbelievable at times.

wouldnt mind he he got ill and had to retire.

Isn't that down to formation and tactics as well though?

Simple fact is no one of note wants the job due to the poisoned chalice that it is.

We all said that we wanted youth to go out there with experience and Roy delivered, we said that we wanted a Pool spine and Roy, delivered, We all said that we wouldn't care if we lost every game as long as we put in the effort and looked much improved from our previous world cup outing which we have yet when it has come to it you all start becoming hypocrites!

Can’t fathom why some think that changing the England manager every few years is going to help the team progress.

England have had a succession of top managers yet have not improved.

This would lead me to believe that individual managing the team is not solely to blame.

IMO while results haven’t been positive the performances have not been as poor as some have made out.

i imagine he will be....

but most wanted him to pick a young vibrant attacking squad...he did.

vs italy

undone by a well oiled machine controlled masterfully by pirlo.....great invention, can u imagine us working a set piece like that first goal....!?

no,just lump it in time after time....and with poor delivery.

vs uraguay....played poorly....still very much in the game...undone by the only GENUINE world class player on show.

not a fan of nice guy woy....but dunno to much can be laid on him....

Arry wanted it.

The results are not shameful.
The performances more or less as expected.
