As long as he has Easdale, Somers , Llambias and Leach on the Board with no representation from any other party .....he has the upper hand !
Spin and maybe trying to haggle for a bit more. Placing of the legal notice would suggest that Ashley has the whip hand.

whip? i would say more like a Trident missile Ginger.
Rangers are finished. They're going to be paying every penny they make to Mike Ashley for the forseeable future. They're in such a bad way that I wouldn't even fancy them to beat Hibs over two-legs such is the utter dejection surrounding the club. Ashley wormed his way in and the Rangers board let him do so. They'll never be able to spend money on players when they're making rent payments just to use the stadium.

it will be interesting to see if the fans actually put up with this now marc.
The fans are powerless. If they support the club and turn up the money goes to Ashley; if they don't then the board make up the shortfall by flogging off assets to Ashley. Whatever the fans do, Ashley wins.

Whatever happened to the fighting fund??
With regards to the £6.5m that is due to be repaid the only sources I have found for this are Keith Jackson and Phil Mac
I don't believe for one second that Mike Ashley wants to run Rangers in the long term. For one thing the SFA might prove to be a major stumbling block if that's his plan. In fact I wouldn't be surprised to see a hefty punishment being handed out to the club regarding his involvement thus far.
If there truly is a £6.5m debt out there will this money be used to pay it or is Ashley just securing his position as major creditor?
My guess is that 'real Rangers men' will end up running things but Sports Direct will be such a huge drain on the club's income that it will be a very long process to get back to challenging for the SPL.

Based on what exactly?
Our two 3 and 4 nil defeats already this season?

Anyone seen the urgent plea to Robert Sarver to come back and pay a substantial amount to buy Rangers?
A Tim has posted on it saying "begging bowls out again, fs, you kants do more tapping than Stevie Wonder's stick"

Of course the gate receipts go to the club. And what exactly does the club do with that money? They pay it to Fat Mike.
What are the terms of Ashley's £10m loan? Until we know that it's difficult to guess at his motives. If it's a short term loan then I will take the view that the spivs are finally ready to crash the bus.
