This series will end 4-1 now......this team won't come back from a thumping like this......
we need another 34 runs to score half as many runs in this match as australia, for twice as many wickets.

I forgot I paused my tivo and I've been 20 seconds behind since lunch.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
go back to live coverage and at least you'll miss a couple of wickets
The better team won. Regardless of the pitch
Utterly disgraceful performance, heads should roll
I've been saying this for years: England have never really replaced Collingwood - not the most talented batsmen by any stretch of the imagination, but mentally built for test cricket.
For that reason I'd still give Ballance a chance (just), but Lyth needs to be dropped - who for though? KP isn't the most reliable choice by any stetch of the imagination

we haven't replaced strauss, prior, or swann either!
Balance is that problem not bell. Bell is perfect at no5 which is his best position.
Cook
Compton
Root
KP
Bell
Stokes
That's what the batting line up should be.

Add moeen instead of compton at too, and I agree with Boss's line up
Anyone else feel Michael Carberry was totally Willy motted by the selectors? Given the tour of death against the Aussies in Australia, was our 2nd highest run scorer and then got jettisoned so some other clown could take the nice and easy series back home.
Add Compton to that list too.
Broad should open. making it look easy
Broad edges 2 over the slips.
Another ton for Bairstow today, a man in form and averaging around 100 in div 1 this season

agree entirely, he got literally the toughest assignment in the world - playing in australia, and in an absolute hammering - didn't disgrace himself, and that was his lot.
he won't get recalled now, but pretty shabby.
so bairstow with another ton, the only player above him in the CC div 1 averages is...Bell!
Broad outscoring Root already!
Bell just not suited coming in after 5 overs in test cricket. That's why he failed at 3 and is now failing at 4. If Root is so good stop protecting him at no5. Pop him at 3 and see what he's made off.
Set of bottlers, making the Aussie bowlers look better than they actually are
This is going to be an epic, conventional-wisdom-shifting counter-attack-with-a-smile from Broad and Root. They'll add 403 in 51 overs... Are we witnessing history?
