I'm not sure, all I saw of his speech was the little pop at Corbyn.
Means nothing either way, though, that decision is out of his control now.
He didn't mention anything about an election from what I saw, I didn't think his speech was actually that bad, and the pop at Corbyn was quite amusing.
Corbyn was awful though, which appears to have continued at the PLP.
This was all I could find, and he isn't talking about a general election here.
"Before we do that we need to determine the kind of relationship we want with the EU. That is rightly something for the next prime minister and their cabinet to decide,” he told MPs, saying this was the messsage he would deliver to a European council meeting in Brussels on Tuesday. “This is our sovereign decision, and it will be for Britain, and Britain alone to take,” he said.
From the Guardian/Huff Post:
Nick Clegg, the former Lib Dem leader, pays tribute to Cameron’s civility, good humour and his ability to see thing from other people’s point of view. Does Cameron agree that it is wrong that only members of the Conservative party should choose the next prime minister? Does he agree there should be an early general election?
Cameron says all parties have their rules for choosing leaders, and he says he and Clegg agreed a Fixed-term Parliaments Act. Cameron agrees an early election is possible and the new prime minister will have to decide whether or not one should be held.
That's what the Guardian want and bears no relation to what Cameron said.
Cameron said it will be for the next leader of the party to decide wether to fulfil the term of parliament
Meaning if its Johnson its up to him ,why would he call a general election no chance
Even MPs are resorting to insults. They are supposed to represent the people yet are callig the majority of people plebicites. THey can do one
You do know that a plebicite is a vote where the result isn't binding, a trial run if you will?
We don't have a history of these but they are popular in places like Brazil so they can test public opinion.

I believe the tariffs apply to imports and exports. I heard on the radio the other day that we export 70% of the cars manufactured in this country and import 70% of the cars we buy. If German cars go up in comparison to ours we will buy less. We will buyb more made here and in other parts of the world like Japan. In fact as we wont have a tariff with the rest of the world they may get even cheaper in comparison. And outr cars will be cheaper to export with no tariffs to teh rest of the world.
--------------------------
The motor industry in the UK is a really sizeable chunk of our GDP, it employs around 700,000 people in the UK.
Producing around 1.6m cars a year, with 44% of these exported to the EU.
It is worth noting as well, that 66% of components used in the manufacture of cars in the UK come from the EU.
If there were tariffs put on trade between the UK and the EU, manufacturers would have to pay tariffs on the majority of components - which will increase the cost of build, and have the cars subject to tariffs which will increase the final cost of the car.
These costs could be significant for the mass market cars (i.e. not the Rolls Royce/Bentley/Aston Martins of this world) and would have a detrimental impact on demand of cars manufactured in the UK and consequently the employment in the auto industry.
There are tariffs on cars going to worldwide markets, e.g. 2.5% on cars exported to the US, 25% on cars into China, 100% on cars exported to India. The reason for the higher tariffs is that countries want to incentivise the manufacturer to establish local manufacturing plants instead, or assembly lines for cars sent in CKD form.
KPMG states "The EU’s bargaining power in trade negotiations around the world is immense; paving the way for the UK to export over 50% of locally-manufactured vehicles to growth markets across the rest of the world."
Free trade with the EU is absolutely essential to the UK car manufacturing sector, through the supply of components to the final delivery of the car to the EU export market.
There is no such thing as "it'll be alright on the night" for thousands of car manufacturing jobs. The current trade agreement is what supports these 700,000 jobs. Any change to this and these jobs will be impacted.

He voted in favour of leaving the European Economic Community in 1975.
He voted against the Maastricht Treaty that created the EU. Here's what he had to say about it - "It takes us in the opposite direction of an unelected legislative body-the Commission-and, in the case of foreign policy, a policy Commission that will be, in effect, imposing foreign policy on nation states that have fought for their own democratic accountability."
He voted against the Lisbon Treaty which is the current constitutional basis for the EU.
Writing about the Greek crisis last year Corbyn said - "There is no future for a Europe that turns its smaller nations into colonies of debt peonage."
In an LBC interview, Corbyn implied that the EU was treating Greece "brutally." - "If Europe becomes a totally brutal organisation that treats every one of its member states in the way that the people of Greece have been treated at the moment, then I think Europe will lose a lot of support from a lot of people."
In an article on his website, Corbyn wrote that the EU was responsible for the gross abuse of human rights in Western Sahara. However, the article was deleted.
In another deleted article on his website, Corbyn wrote this - "The project has always been to create a huge free-market Europe, with ever-limiting powers for national parliaments and an increasingly powerful common foreign and security policy."
A spokesman for Corbyn said the articles were deleted because they are "converting it [the website] to reflect his work as leader and afterwards."
